King and Palmer Nuptials The marriage of Miss Orra Hamlin King, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert King to Mr. Willett Sheridan Palmer, formerly of Friendship, N.Y. was solemnized at six o'clock Tuesday evening at St. Luke's church by the Rev. The gowns of the feminine part of the congregation were handsome and effective. ON the altar were two vases of roses and ferns and two of yellow daffodils. At six o'clock precisely the strains of the beautiful wedding march from Lonhengrin were heard and the wedding party came up the broad aisle, the users leading, who were G.B. Mayo, F.R. Young, C.C. Boyd, S.F. Redfield, followed by the matron of honor, Mrs. W.J. Gramlin, Jr., of Tu???, Pa. these being followed by the bride leaning on the arm of her father, and who were met at the chancel steps by the groom and his best man, Mr. Orin Hamlin, when the groom received the bride and the first part of the ceremony was performed. Married, in Port Allegany, Jan. 31, 1869, by Wm. Wilkin, Esq., Mr. Abner Rockwell and Mary Starkweather. Page 1. Ancient History. Married, at the residence of Hon. A. N. Taylor in this place, on Thursday, March 18, 1869, by Rev. R.K. Pierce, Mr. G.C. Heinman of Williamsport and Miss Elmira Goodwin of Farmers Valley. The frosted "Johnny cake" given us looked very well, but had too much of the matrimonial taste to be right palatable. The "V" sent us was relished; is had such an effect upon our drooping spirits we were about out of "spondulux" before we received this that we went to work and tore off our vest sleaves. The thought that we were able to replace them was one which never before entered our mind and it was indeed consoling. That the bride may prove a Good-win is our hope in behalf of the bridegroom, and for her we trust she has at last found a firm Guy to steady her through life's rugged storms. The wish of the printers is that their pathway of life may be strewn with flowers and their ways that of pleasantness and peace. Page 5. Mr. and Mrs. William Hafner have announced the engagement of their daughter, Edna Lorena, to Mr. Ghordis Burdette Corwin. Aug 13, 1903: Page 1. Last weeks Mt. Jewett Herald has the following to say of one of McKean county's oldest and best known couples: On Monday afternoon a number of the friends of Mr. and Mrs. G.W. Burdick assembled at the residence of their son, Dr. W.P. Burdick on High street to assist in celebrating the sixty-first anniversary of the marriage of the aged couple. Sixty one years is a remarkably long period for two people to have traveled together as man and wife, and judging from the serene countenances of Mr. and Mrs. Burdick, the journey in their case has been one of content and happiness. Notwithstanding that Mrs. Burdick has been confined to her bed for several years, as the result of a fall, no word of complaint escapes her and her life continues as a summer day, while her aged companion goes about his chosen duties with a cherry greeting and smiling face, intent on the happiness of her who has so long shared his joys - as to sorrows, they seem to have escaped them. May they be long preserved to us, as an example of that life intended for all. Page 1. Ancient History. This it will be seen that our friend "Billy" has, after a calm and deliberate investigation of the subject, determined to test the conclusion that Solomon enunciated in the days of long ago; "That whosoever findeth a wife findeth a good thing." Well, we wish him and the excellent lady of his choice all the happiness and sunshine that can be crowded into a long journey across the shadowy vale of life. May life's joys and blessing over attend them as they "gallop" down this world's pathway. This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/pafiles/ File size: 38.2 Kb
