The young couple were married at the United Brethren, church, the Rev. N.J. McIntyer, officiating. The y will make their future home at Bloomster Hollow. The Miner extends best wishes and hearty congratulations upon this happy occasion. January 23, 1919. Page 1. Fitzgibbon – Gray. Thursday afternoon at 12:30 o’clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Gray in Bolivar, N.Y., was solemnized the marriage of their daughter, Miss Jessie M. Gray and Hon. John A. Fitzgibbon, Esq., of Bradford, Rev. J.B. Harry of the Methodist church of Bolivar performed the ceremony which was witnessed by members of the family only Mr. and Mrs. Fitzgibbon left late in the afternoon on their wedding trip which will include a visit to Harrisburg where they attended the inauguration ceremonies. The bride is well known to many as a young woman possessing a most charming personality. She was born in Bolivar and has resided there all her life. The groom is one of McKean county’s most successful attorneys. Last spring he enlisted as a private in the U.S. infantry and was sent soon afterwards to Panama where he was stationed until being honorably discharged about a month ago. He is now serving his second term as a member of the Legislature from McKean county. He has numerous friends who will wish him and his bride’s happy future. Page 1. Marriage Licenses. Jan. 18. Yesterday morning at 8 o’clock at St. Mary’s of the angels church, Olean, N.Y., occurred the marriage of Miss Anna Kick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Kick of Olean and Francis B. Fay, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Fay of Keating township, the ceremony being performed by Father Rengel. The bride was gowned in wisteria velvet and was attended by Miss Julia Fay, sister of the groom, as bridesmaid, who wore a gown of blue georgette crepe. Clarence Kick of Buffalo, N.Y., brother of the bride, was best man. The bride is a teacher in the Olean schools a most charming and popular young lady. Mr. Fay holds a responsible position with the Hamlin Bank & Trust Co., of Smethport and was recently mustered out of the service of the National army. Both have many friends who extend best wishes and congratulations. Mr. and Mr. Fay departed upon a wedding trip which will include visits to various points. They will soon be at home to their many friends at the Eberspacher house on East Main street. Page 3. Marriages and Deaths of the Week clipped from the Eagle. The marriage of Angeline, daughter of E.W. Crowley, of Sartwell, and James E. Kayes, of Portville, N.Y., was solemnized Thursday, January 16 at nine o’clock at St. Mary’s church, Sartwell, the Rev. A.J. Fisher officiating. The bride wore a traveling suit of navy blue tricoline with blue bird hat and corsage bouquet of bride roses. She was attended by her sister, Miss Clara Crowley, while F.B. Kayes of buffalo acted as best man. Miss Hazel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T.S. Caswell, of Rixford, and Arthur Patterson of Bradford, were married Saturday evening in Olean by Rev. Lynch. Page 4. Frank Shoup and Pearl Frederick both of Olean, N.Y. Page 8. Mt. Jewett. Miss Alberta Besecker and Mr. Albert Fairbaugh quietly slipped away and were married one day last week. They are now at Camp Lee as Mr. Fairbaugh has not yet received his discharge. February 13, 1919. Page 1. At high noon yesterday at St. Luke’s Episcopal church occurred the marriage of Miss Rita Gorton, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sheridan Gorton of this place and Wright C. smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. L.M. Smith of Oswayo. Rev. (unreadable) performed the ceremony before a large gathering of friends, the wedding being a public one, as was indeed suitable as every man, woman and child in this community is a friend of this young couple. The bride daintily gowned in blue georgette crepe with blue and pink bat and carrying pink roses, was given by her father at the alter where the bridegroom and his best man, Edmund Whitelaw of Crosby awaited. Miss Zela Brasted most becomingly gowned in blue georgette crepe with hat to match and carrying yellow roses was an attractive bridesmaid. Immediately after the ceremony a reception was held at the bride’s home to thirty friends at which her real intimates Miss Marle O’Brien, Miss Gladys DeHass, Miss Iva Holder and Mrs. Elmer Quirk served. The bride’s presents to these young ladies was solid silver spoons. The house was most tastefully decorated following a color scheme of pink and white. The gifts were profuse in number and of great variety and beauty. The bride is one of Smethport’s most charming young ladies, capable and altogether deserving of the happy wedded life that is wished her by one and all. The groom is a young man who recently closed a several moths engagement with Uncle Sam’s army, genial, industrious and very popular among Smethport people where he has been employed for some years in the hardware trade. Simpson surprised the people here, Monday, by quietly going down to Portville with Mrs. Frances C. Wainman, where at 4 o’clock that afternoon, they were united in marriage by Rev. Rolo of that place. The event was pretty well planned and the newly weds would have gotten away with it if someone hadn’t given it away. As it was the boys found it out and gave them a joyous reception. Yesterday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the M.E. parsonage occurred the marriage of Miss Mary Ellen Coady and Charles Shultz, well known and well esteemed young people of this place, the ceremony being performed by the Rev. Arthur Gregson. The bride is an attractive young lady who has resided in Smethport all her life for the last year having been employed on the McKean Democrat as bookkeeper. Mr. Shultz, whose home was formerly in Belmont, N.Y., has also been employed on the Democrat as linotype operator, and the marriage is the culmination of a pretty romance of the print shop. The good wishes of the craft are especially extended on this happy occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Shultz left soon after the ceremony for buffalo and will also visit the groom’s mother at Belmont before their return to Smethport on Monday next. After March 1 they will be at home to their many friends at their apartments in Miss Amanda Sasse’s residence on Mechanic Street. March 6, 1919. Page 9. Wedding At Norwich At the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Armstrong, the latter daughter of the groom, at 4:00 o’clock Wednesday, Feb. 19, 1919, the words were spoken that united in wedlock D.C. Haynes and Linda A. Lewis, both of Betula. Only children and grandchildren of the two parties being present. The bride wore grey satin and carried white roses. Baby Irene Armstrong little granddaughter of the groom was ring bearer. Guests from out of town were: Chas. Sanders, of Espheming, Mich.; Mrs. Chas. Auchu and daughter Helen, Mrs. Alex McAuley, Mrs. Celia Nickerson, Mr. and Mrs. A.D. Haynes of Emporium. “Daddy” Haynes is crowding his 67th year and his wife her 58th year. He says they will both be of age in the spring. Here is wishing them many long and happy years of married life. March 13, 1919. Page 1. Moody – Walker The marriage of Miss Ella Moody eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Moody of Coryville, Pa., to Frank Walker of Crystal, Pa., was solemnized Wednesday, March 12, 1919, at high noon at the church in Coryville. Rev. Showers performed the ceremony which united the happy couple. The bride is one of Coryville’s most charming young ladies and is well known in Smethport where she attended high school and number her friends by the score. Mr. Walker is a prominent young man who possesses many admirable qualities, the Miner unites with their many friends in extending congratulations. Page 1. Hector – Bias Carl D. Hector, formerly of Smethport and Miss Sadie Bias of Huntingdon, W.Va., were married in the M.E. church in that place, Friday, March 7. Mr. Hector is a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hector of this place and a former resident who has many friends who extend best wishes for life’ happiness. He holds a position to Huntingdon with the Camp Glass Co., and the happy couple will reside there. March 20, 1919. Page 5. The engagement of Miss Myra T. Rice daughter of Myer Rice of Keating Twp. And Michael G. Catania of New York has been announce. The wedding will take place in the early spring. March 27, 1919. Page 1. Announcement is made of the marriage of Miss Minnie Balding to Hadley L. Foster, March 2, 1919 at Stephenville, Texas. Hadley is well known as a former Smethport boy and is the brother of Mrs. Nell Gleason. The young man received his honorable discharge after serving four years in the Navy and for the last year has been first class gun pointer of a five-gun crew on the U.S.S. Carolina. April 3, 1919. Page5. Mr. and Mrs. John Larson were in Port Allegany Thursday, and attended the wedding of Mr. Larson’s sister, Miss Josephine, and Richard Byork. The young couple will reside in Johnsonburg where Mr. Byork has an excellent position. Their many friends extend congratulations. Page 8. Announcements have been received in town of the marriage of Albert Wilkinson Biddle and Miss Margaret Elizabeth Brubeck, both of Tulsa, Okla., the event taking place on Tuesday, March 11. Mr. Biddle was a former Eldred boy, a graduate of the local High School, and a popular young man with all his associates. He is employed with the Texas company being recently discharged from the army. They are at home at 711 South Cincinnati Street, Tulsa, where they have the best wishes of the Eagle and Eldred friends. The marriage of Miss Josephine Larson, daughter of Mr. August Larson of this place, to Mr. Richard Byork, of Benton Harbor, Michigan, took place Thursday evening, March 27, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. N.E. Hermanson on the Brooklynside. Rev. G.S. Larson was the officiating minister and the beautiful ring ceremony being used. Only the nearest relatives and some intimate friends of the bride witnessed the ceremony. The bride wore a pretty wedding gown of blue silk and blue georgette crepe trimmed with beads. Miss Margaret Hermanson, gowned in a beautiful blue silk dress, assisted the bride and Mr. Melker Hermanson acted as best man. Miss Ethel Reeves of Smethport played the wedding march. The house was beautifully decorated in white and blue. After the ceremony Mrs. Hermanson served a very dainty and bountiful four course wedding dinner, the table being prettily decorated. The happy couple will make their home in Johnsonburg, Pa., where Mr. Byork has employment as foreman of the stationary department in the Johnson burg Paper Mill. Arthur Gregson, Isaac hardy and Eloise Simpson, both of Colegrove. Page 8. Port Allegany: the many friends of Mrs. Sophia Beere were very much surprised Tuesday to hear of her marriage to Mr. Gustave Ury Monday afternoon at New York city. Mrs. Beere left here last week to attend the wedding of her niece, Miss Fragner, at New York as well as to accompany her son, Seymour to New York, where he entered the Eastman Gaines School. While at New York, Mr. Ury and Mrs. Beere, who had been engaged, but had not intended to marry for some time yet, decided to be married immediately. Accordingly a quiet wedding was solemnized. Mr. Ury has been a traveling salesman, and has been a frequent visitor in Port Allegany, making numerous friends while here. The bride is well known throughout this entire section, having been for many yeas the proprietor of the Mrs. Beere Ladies Furnishing Store. Page 8. Port Allegany: Monsieur and Madam Aubin Lasnier of Limoges (Haute Vienne) France have announced the engagement of their daughter, Mlle. Yvonne Lasnier to Sgt. Carl O. Thoren U.S. Army formerly of Port Allegany, Pennsylvania. April 24, 1919. Page 5. Mr. and Mrs. David Cramer of Vinland, N.J., announce the marriage of their daughter, Miss Martha f., to Melville D. Borden. The wedding took place April 18, at the First Methodist Episcopal parsonage, by the Rev. T.S. Brock. The bride and family formerly resided in Smethport and many friends here wish the young couple much happiness. Page 8. William S. Newton of Port Allegany and Mrs. Minerva Hostettler, of Union City, Pa., were married at the home of Rev. H.L. Miner, in Olean on April 15. This is the third marriage of both Mr. Newton and his bride. He has lost two wives by death and both of the bride’s former husbands died. The groom formerly live in Eldred. May 1, 1919. Page 3. Eldred: Tuesday morning at St. Raphael’s rectory in Eldred was solemnized the marriage of Miss Lillian Margaret Hart daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Hart of Tram Hollow, and Charles Ray Fowler. The attendants were Miss Ruth Minnich and Leo Hart, the latter being a brother of the bride. Page 7. Port Allegany: Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Carlson of the Brooklynside, celebrated their forty-fifth wedding anniversary on Monday. All the family were home for the occasion and enjoyed a sumptuous dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Carlson had lived in Port Allegany for more than forty years and the family now totals twenty- six members which includes eleven grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Carlson are widely known and popular in this section and have the hearty best wishes and congratulations of many friends. Page 7. Port Allegany: The marriage of W.S. Newton of this place and Mrs. Minerva Hostettler of Union City took place Tuesday, April 15th at the Free Methodist Parsonage in Olean. They arrived here the better part of the week. Eldred: Howard Gales of Eldred, and Miss Margaret Gould of New Bethlehem, Pa., were united in marriage at the Methodist parsonage in Salamanca, N.Y., on Wednesday. They returned to Eldred that night and will make that their future home. May 15, 1919. Page 1. Anderson – Hagg Miss Ida Hagg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Hagg of Port Allegany, Pa., was united in marriage on Saturday evening. May 10th, to Mr. Ernest W. Anderson of Bradford, pa. The ceremony was held in the Swedish Emanuel Church at Rochester, N.Y., Rev. J.H. Lundgren officiating. The bride was attended by Miss Helena Anderson of Smethport, Pa. Mr. Verner Haltman of Buffalo, N.Y., acted as best man. The flower girl was little Miss Francis Johnson of Rochester, N.Y., a cousin of the bride. The bride wore a dutchess veil and a gown of white satin charmeuse and carried a shower bouquet of white roses. Her attendant wore white satin and carried pink roses. After the ceremony an elegant luncheon was served at the home of Mrs. A. Johnson, 52 Carthage St., Rochester, N.Y., an aunt of the bride. Ostrander of Davis City, announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Bessie May Ostrander and Lawrence H. Kemp of Eldred. The marriage is to take place in the near future. Page 8. Port Allegany: The home of Mrs. Nellie Meeker was the scene of a pretty wedding which occurred at 8 o’clock Wednesday evening of this week. The bride, Miss Mona Meeker, is one of Port Allegany’s most popular young ladies being a graduate of the local high school and having been a successful teach in the public schools of the county. The groom, Mr. Arthur W. Lunden is one of Hazelhursts’ most successful business men, who has seen seven months of military service in training for the recent war. The nuptials were performed by the bride’s pastor, Rev. W.A. Stackhouse in the presence of the immediate family, the impressive ring ceremony being used. The bride was the recipient of many beautiful and useful gifts, tokens of the high esteem in which she was held by her large circle of friends. After congratulations were extended and a wedding repast had been served, the happy couple left for their new home in Hazelhurst. Their many friends unite with the Reporter-Argus in wishing them many happy and successful years of wedded life. Page 8. Mt. Jewett: In the presence of the immediate family and relatives from Kushequa and Mt. Jewett, Miss Elenora Irene Johnson and Mr. Chester Christman both of Kushequa were united in marriage Wednesday evening at the home of the groom’s parents, Mr. and Mr. W.B. Christman. Rev. Barr of Wilcox officiated and the happy couple were attended by Misses Edna Souger and David Larson and Messrs Walter Larson and Walter (unreadable), Immediately following the ceremonies which took place at 7 o’clock, a four course dinner was served, the table being beautifully decorated with pink and white roses and the guests entertained with musical selections rendered by Miss (unreadable) who also played softly during the ceremonies. A wedding journey has been postponed until such time as the condition of the roads will permit an extended motor trip. May 22, 1919. Page 8. Farmers Valley: Mr. Harry Johnson of Coleville and Miss Roxy smith of this place were married at Olean last Wednesday. Coleville: Announcement is made of the marriage of Miss Roxie Smith of Farmers Valley and Mr. Harry Johnston. The ceremony took place in Olean on Wednesday, May 14. Page 8. Mr. and Mrs. B.G. McFall announce the marriage of their daughter, Miss Hilda to Elvin Underwood of Baltimore, Md., the ceremony having been performed by Rev. L.A. Wright of the M.E. church in Portville on January 1st inst. This will be quite a surprise to the many friends of the young people as it has been a well kept secret. The bride is daughter of the editor of the Eagle and we naturally thin she is a popular young lady as the usual notice reads. She is a graduate of the Eldred High school and just completed teaching a term of school at Summit City. The groom formerly lived here but at present is in Baltimore, Md., where he holds a responsible position. He expects to come for his bride next week and they will leave for Baltimore soon after. He has prepared a home at ?08 Hilton street where they will be at home after June 1st. Both of the young people have a large circle of friends here. May 29, 1919. Page 3. Port Allegany: the marriage of William Albert Anderson and Miss Lillian Winterquist took place Wednesday afternoon at four o’clock at the Swedish Lutheran Parsonage, Rev. G.S. Larson officiating, Edith Pearson was bridesmaid, and Harry Anderson, brother of the groom acted as best man. They left on a honeymoon trip to Buffalos and Erie, and on their return will make their home at their newly purchased residence on Chestnut street. Both are well known and popular young people and have the congratulations and best wishes of a host of friends. Page 3. Maurice Rosenbloom and Miss Edith King were united in marriage last Monday, May 19th. Page 8. Mt. Jewett: Relatives in town have received announcement of the marriage of Evan R. Benson son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Benson of Kushequa avenue and Miss Laverne E. Snyder of Olean, N.Y. The marriage took place on May 14th and after an extended wedding trip to Baltimore and Washington, the couple will make their home in Olean, where the groom has been employed for over a years. – Mt. Jewett Herald. Page 8. Eldred: Mr. and Mrs. Joel d. Stillman on Monday afternoon, May 13, celebrated a great event in their lives, their 50th wedding anniversary, at their pleasant home in Ceres. Relatives and friends to the number of 90 from this place, Little Genesee, Bolivar, Shinglehouse and Eldred were present. The afternoon was very enjoyably passed visiting and having a general good time. At five o’clock a buffet lunch was served. Mr. and Mrs. Stillman were the recipients of a number of beautiful gifts, including cut glass. Mr. and Mrs., Stillman were married at Little Genesee, N.Y. 50 years ago Monday the, Rev. Brown performing the ceremony. This worthy couple lived in that place since their marriage until only a few years ago when they moved to Ceres to reside. They are held in the highest esteem by all who know them and were showered with congratulations upon the occasion of their anniversary. They are parents of Bert Stillman of Eldred. June 5, 1919. Page 1. Norman – Hagg Miss Julia Hagg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Hagg of Birch grove, Pa., was united in marriage Thursday, may 29, to Mr. Ralph g. Norman of Smethport. The ceremony was held at the home of the bride at Birch Grove, Rev. Winstedt of Smethport officiating. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Esther Hagg and Seth Norman, a cousin of the groom, acted as best man. The bride wore a duchess veil and a gown of white satin and wore a bouquet of lilies of the valley and white roses. After the ceremony an elegant dinner was served. Mr. and Mrs. Norman returned to Smethport Monday evening from a short wedding trip and will make their future home with Mr. Norman’s father on West Main street. Page 5. At last Sunday morning’s service in the St. Elizabeth’s Catholic church the bans were called for Miss Jennie Curran and Raymond D. Cauley. The marriage of this young couple will take place in the near future. Page 8. Mt. Jewett: Miss Margaret Jackson of Youngstown, O., and Mr. Edward L. Besecker of this place were married in Olean Wednesday, May 28th, Rev. H. Steed, pastor of the Methodist church officiating. Mr. Besecker but recently returned from military service in France where he spent a few days over one year abroad in railroad transportation work. Since their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Besecker have been spending the time with relatives in Mt. He was a Mexican border veteran and was mustered into service with Company I, the Olean unit of the National Guard, following the declaration of war against Germany. He was commissioned in France. The ceremony was performed in the presence of the bride’s family and a few friends. The bride was given away by her father and the ring service of the Episcopal church was used. Miss Green has been a capable stenographer and assistant in the Recorder’s office for some time. Mr. Connington is a former Smethport resident and a young man of excellent character. Church, September 8th, 1869, Dr. Henry Lane McCoy was married to Clara Maria, only daughter of Hon. P. ford of Church Street. The church was beautifully decorated for the occasion. After the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Ford on church Street. Fathers and mothers with their children were gathered at this hospitable home to wish much happiness to the young couple. The rain outside did not dampen the joy indoors. A delicious wedding breakfast was served after which the young couple departed for a honey moon trip. Wedding bells ring merrily but never more so than upon September 8th, 1869. Jewett’s well known young people, sprung a surprise on their parents and friends here Friday, by journeying to Smethport, procuring a license, and going to the Methodist parsonage, where they were united in marriage by the Rev. Arthur Gregson of that place. ON their return home they were treated to a shower of rice. On Saturday they left for Buffalo and vicinity on their wedding tour, and were accompanied by Dr. and Mrs. C.W. Jones. Mr. Lunden left Buffalo Sunday for New York where he has accepted a position with the Chase National Bank, and Mrs. Lunden returned with Dr. and Mrs. Jones to remain until Walter secures suitable living apartments. Mr. Lunden is one of Mt. Jewett’s most popular young men serving his country overseas and reaching the position of First Lieutenant. Sherdian Stannard of Eldred and Miss Mildred Stroughton, of Randolph, N.Y., were united in marriage by Rev. E.J. Fairweather of the M.E. church, in the parlor of E.I. Marsh’s furniture store, at 9 o’clock last night. The event was to have been a close secret but in some manner it leaked out and while the bridal party were enjoying their wedding supper at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M.P. Blakeslee on King street, the Band of which Mr. Stannard is a valued member quietly “surrounded” the front of the house and “let go” several of his favorite selections. Mr. Stannard is an employee at the refinery and has a host of friends here. The bride has been employed at Marsh’s store for some time and is a pleasing young lady who makes friends easily. That they will be happy is the sincere wish of all their friends. The bridal couple were attended by Philip Smith and Louise Blakeslee. After the wedding supper the couple were taken to Olean from which place they left for a wedding trip to the bride’s home. Pomeroy – Card St. John’s Episcopal Church of Ithaca, N.Y., was the scene of a very pretty wedding, Wednesday evening, September 17, 1919, when two of Ithaca’s talented, highly respected and much admired young people, Miss Hazel Pomeroy and Douglass Card were united by the Rev. H.P. Horton, I the holy bonds of matrimony. The bridal procession was led by the little flower girl, Katherine Pomeroy, a niece of the bride who looked very charming in her gown of white georgette crepe with a basket of white flowers in hand. The bride was beautifully attired in a gown of white embroidered lace, her veil being caught with orange blossoms and carrying in her hand a shower bouquet of bride’s roses and white cosmos appeared leaning on the arm of her brother, Mark M. Pomeroy, who later gave the bride away. Mr. and Mrs. Card are graduates of the violin department of the Ithaca Conservatory of Music. Following the wedding a reception was held at the home of the bride’s mother, Mrs. Emma I. Pomeroy. Page 1. On Wednesday, Sept. 17, 1919, at Christ’s (Episcopal) church at Tonawanda, N.Y., occurred the marriage of Miss Mary Marguerite Knapp and Mr. Henry Cooley, both of Franklinville, N.Y. The ceremony was performed by Rev. G.S. Messenger, rector of the church. The young couple were attended by Mrs. Fay Hanley, sister of the bride, and Mr. Albert Muessel, both of Buffalo. The bride is a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. N.H. Knapp of Smethport and resided in this borough until about three years ago. After leaving high school she was for several years one of the force of the boy’s Magazine and will be remembered by basket-ball fans as a member of the girls team which scored numerous victories a few years ago. After the death of her mother she went to Rushfor, N.Y., where for a year she held a position on The Spectator, leaving there to take a responsible situation in the Ontario Knife Co.’s plant at Franklinville. She is a popular young woman with many friends who extend sincere wishes for a happy married life. Commisky of New Castle, pa. The bride wore a blue suit of beaver broad cloth, trimmed with seal with hat to match and a corsage bouquet of orchids. Miss Marie Kane, who was bridesmaid wore a suit of blue tricotine a black picture hat and corsage of red roses. The best man was Dr. Wm. D. Barry of Philadelphia, brother of the bride. After the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served at the New Grand Central Hotel at tables artistically decorated with cut flowers and smilax. Covers were laid for twenty-five. The bride is a most charming and accomplished girl, whose popularity was attested by the number of prenuptial events given in her honor was a graduate of Smethport High School, the Edinboro Normal and was a successful teacher in the county schools for two years. He is a graduate of the Bradford High School and now holds a responsible position with the B.R.&P. railroad at New Castle, where they will reside. The bride left Smethport a few years ago to enter the nurses training class in the General Marine hospital at St. Catherine’s Canada, from which she graduated as a professional nurse. When the war broke out she entered the U.S. Army service and was stationed at the Proving Grounds at Aberdeen, Md. Mr. Kunkle was a soldier stationed there and the marriage yesterday was the result of an Army courtship. The bride is well beloved by many friends here, and the groom is a very popular young man among his acquaintances. Mr. and Mrs. Kunkle left on the afternoon Pennsylvania train for Albany, N.Y., from which city they proceed to Canada and visit various interesting localities. At the conclusion of their honey moon journey they will make their home in Carthage, Ill., where Mr. Kunkle is established in business. Port Allegany: A pretty wedding was solemnized at 9 o’clock at St. Marys Church at Sartwell Tuesday morning when Jane Christine, eldest daughter of E. McFadden of Eldred and Michael J. Caskey of Enid, Oklahoma were united in marriage, Rev. Father Fischer officiating. The bride was charming in a suit of blue tricotine, trimmed with black fox fur, a hat to match and wore a corsage bouquet of pink rosebuds. She was attended by her sister, Miss Marion McFadden who was attractively gowned in blue satin charmenuse. She wore a black picture hat and carried a bouquet of (unreadable) roses. The groom’s attendant was Henry d. McFadden, a brother of the bride. They will be at home at 1005 East Street, north east, Washington D.C. after November 25th. The bride is a charming and talented young woman and was a successful teacher in the McKean County Schools for several years. For the past two years she has been in the service of the United States government at Washington, D.C. The groom is an enterprising young business man and holds a responsible position at the national capital. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Galutia of eldred and the newlyweds were here to visit his parents on their wedding trip. The bride is a popular young lady who trained as a nurse at the Kane Summit hospital and during and after the war nursed at various military camps on this side of the water. Recently she has been following her vocation in Buffalo. She has numerous relatives and friends in Smethport who extend best wishes for a happy married life.
