Thomas http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00016.html#0003785 February 14, 2009, 2:06 pm McKean County Democrat, August 18, 1955 Charles Berg, 85, Retired Refinery Worker, Is Dead Charles Berg, 85, a retired refinery worker, died at his home, Smethport R.D. 3, Sunday at 7:45 p.m. Mr. Berg was born in Gotland, Sweden, Jan. 24, 1870. He came to the U. S. at the age of 11, settling first as a young man in Minnesota, and coming to this section of Pennsylvania in 1888 where he was employed as a teamster. He later worked in the local oil fields and at the Quaker State Oil Refining Corp. until his retirement in 1939. Surviving are three sons, Carl Berg, Smethport, Archie Berg, Monaca, Pa., and Robert Berg of 17 N. Bennett St., Bradford; one daughter, Mrs. Edith Gustafson, Smethport; 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted yesterday afternoon in the Fry Funeral Home, Smethport. The Rev. C. O. Thunberg, DuBois, retired pastor of the Ansgarlus Lutheran Church, Smethport, officiated. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
