Thomas http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00016.html#0003785 August 29, 2009, 11:55 pm McKean County Democrat, Smethport, Pa., Thursday, September 28, 1939, Page 5 STROKE IS FATAL John Ostrander, Aged Grimes District Resident Died Last Week John Ostrander, 79, of Grimes District, near Port Allegany, died on Monday of last week from the effects of a stroke, which he suffered a week previously. Mr. Ostrander, an uncle of Mrs. E. H. Southwick, Mrs. A. M. Anderson, Roy Thomas, Clair Thomas, Homer Thomas and Mrs. Ray Abbey, of Smethport, was born on April 2, 1860, near Port Allegany. He was a son of Matthew and Minerva Ostrander. Surviving are three sons, Arthur, Clayton and Roy Ostrander; two brothers, Walter and Byron Ostrander; five grandchildren, Ralph, Arloine, Merl, Johnnie and Dominic Ostrander, and one great grandson, Gary Ostrander. Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon of last week at the Grimes church. The Rev. Roland R. Eggleston, pastor of the Port Allegany United Brethren church, officiated. Interment was in the family plot in Grimes Cemetery with the following nephews acting as pallbearers: Paul Ostrander, Ephrium Ostrander, Floyd Ostrander, Roy Thomas, Herman Ostrander and Walter Ostrander. Among the out-of-town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were: Mrs. A. M. Anderson, Mrs. E. H. Southwick, Mrs. Ray Abbey and Roy Thomas of Smethport.
