M. shabodeho@aol.com April 13, 2010, 10:18 pm Advance Argus 12/22/1887 Mrs. Isabel Nelson Advance Argus 12/22/1887 Mrs. Isabel Nelson, widow of the late James Nelson, of West Salem township, died at 1 1/2 o'clock on Sabbath, morning last, 77 years, 11 months and 21 days. Mrs. Nelson was a daughter of James McCullough, an early settler on a tract of land through which the Meadville road runs, some three miles northeast of this place, and here Mrs. Nelson was born. She was married to James Nelson in 1830, and took up her, residence on the Nelson farms, one mile west of where she was born and where she continued to reside until her death, a period of about 57 years. James Nelson, her husband, died about a quarter of a century ago. Mrs. Nelson leaves seven living children, viz: Mrs. W. G. W. Porter, Mrs. S. J. Groover, Mrs. W. H. McBroom, Mrs. R. C. McMichael, and John Q., James and Samuel Nelson. She leaves 48 grandchildren, living and dead and two great grandchildren, She was buried at our Cemetery on Monday, a large concourse of surviving relatives and friends following her to the graven. She was a member of the U. P. church of this place for a long series of years before her death. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints."
