Barr occurred at his home place in Mercer township, occupied by his son, M.R. Barr, on the 11th inst. at 2:30 a.m. of kidney trouble of which he had been afflicted for a long time, and for the past five months confined to his room, at the advanced age of 78 years, 2 months, and 25 days. He was born in Mifflin county, Pa., Sept. 18, 1825, and on Nov. 29, 1849, he married Miss Jane Cunningham of the same locality. To this union were born nine children, five of whom are living as follows: J.W. Barr of E. St. Louis, Ill.; Mrs. Geo. Algoe of Toluca, Ill.; M.R. and R.G. Barr and Mrs. W.E. Case of Mercer township. Mrs. Algoe arrived a few days before and was present at the time of his death. In 1866 Mr. and Mrs. Barr located in Marshall county, Ill., where they remained until about 1880 when they located in Mercer township where they resided until the time of their death, Mrs. Barr having passed to her reward about five years ago. The funeral was held at 10 o'clock Sunday morning.........interment at Lenox cemetery. Additional Comments: NOTE: It is probable that he was born in Huntingdon county as his parents were in that county, where Samuel was a teacher, not moving to Mifflin county as a married couple until sometime between 1832 and 1834.
