All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/mifflin/ http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm _______________________________________________ George Baumgardner, Civil War veteran, aged 87 years, 4 months, 16 days, died at his home, the residence of his daughter, Mrs. James Thomas at Naginey, Sunday evening [May 22] 8:10 o'clock. The infirmities of extreme old age caused his death and, he was confined to his bed only 11 days just prior to his death. Mr. Baumgardner leaves his wife, Susan Bobb, three sons and three daughters. Samuel Baumgardner, 16 1/2 Locust Street, Lewistown; John Baumgardner, Shrader; William Baumgardner, Milroy; Mrs. Samuel (Charolette) Shirk, Milroy; Mrs. James (Rebecca) Thomas, Naginey; and Mrs. Hugh (Minnie) Callahan, near State College. The deceased was a railroad trackman on the Milroy branch many years, and then became an employee of the stone quarries, Naginey where he labored until about ten years ago under the supervision of I. A. Sheffer. The funeral services will be conducted at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James Thomas, Naginey, Wednesday afternoon, 2:30 o'clock by Rev. Thomas M. Stone.
