Mrs. Marie Belford, wife of Mr. D. W. A. Belford, died at her home in Milton, Northumberland county, at 1.45 o'clock Monday morning. What her particular ailment was, or whether her death was sudden or the result of protracted illness, the postal announcing the sad news did not mention. Mrs. Belford was well known in this city, and esteemed for her many good qualities as a neighbor, wife and mother. She was born in Lewistown, Mifflin county, and was about 63 years of age. She was a sister of the late Bishop Wiley, of the Methodist Episcopal church, and was married to Mr. Belford in the winter of 1848, her first husband being Mr. Richard Brimmer, deceased, of McVeytown. For many years she was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, and during her residence in Mifflintown was foremost in every good work belonging to an active and faithful Christian life and earnest church duty. She was a kind and indulgent mother and a generous friend. Her death will be sad news to her many friends in the Juniata valley, and to none more so than the writer, who has often, with members of his family, enjoyed the hospitality of her ever-welcome home and board. Throughout life she had many trials and afflictions, which she bore with patience and Christian resignation, and to the end she held fast the profession of her faith. But all these "light afflictions" of a moment are now past, and have doubtless brought to her immortal soul a "far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory." To her excellent husband the sympathy of many friends will be tendered him in the hour of this his great bereavement. Altoona Tribune, November 19, 1885
