Born May 15, 1921 in Belleville on the Campbell family farm, she was the oldest daughter of former Mifflin County Commissioner, Frank L. Campbell, and Susan Margaret (Kearns) Campbell of Belleville and Vira, respectively. Ann is survived by brother, John Douglas Campbell of Lancaster; and sister Susan Margaret Shell of Cashmere, Washington. Ann was predeceased by her parents, and brother, Joseph Kearns Campbell. Upon the outbreak of World War II, she enlisted in the US Navy WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service). She served the duration of the War in Naval Communications in Washington, D.C. She was a member of the Waynesboro Presbyterian Church.
