Born on April 3, 1947, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Merrill A. Cutshall and Janet A. (Hantz) Cutshall. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jane L. (Pennebaker) Cutshall. Steven graduated from Lewistown-Granville High School in 1965. After high school, he went to school at DeVry Institute of Technology in Chicago, IL. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in February 1968, where he was granted top secret clearance with the U.S. Army Security Agency (ASA) June 18, 1968. He served in Vietnam from 1969-1970. After he worked as a consultant for Harris Communications, a U.S. Government contract company, in Alaska and Berlin, Germany from 1970-1974. After coming home, he went to work for Penn Central Railroad as a locomotive engineer in 1975, retiring after 32 years of service from Norfolk Southern Railroad in 2007. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers (BLE) for 35 years. Steve was a member of the Train Collectors Association. He enjoyed going to train meets, buying and selling Lionel trains. He was also a member of the American Radio Relay League for over 50 years. As an amateur ham radio operator (his call was K3TZV) he talked to people all over the world, even got a card from King Hussain of Jordan. Steve had a wonderful sense of humor. Could always make you laugh. He loved to grow his own vegetables in the summer, surrounding them with flower beds of day lilies. He loved all animals, especially cats. He and his wife, Jane, bred and raised Persian cats for over 20 years, showing them in The Cat Fanciers Association (CFA), winning a number of regional awards. He loved to travel to different cat shows, (when not working the weekend) to see the many different breeds of cats and talking to their breeders. Steve was a member of Mount Olivet United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg, where he served on a number of committees. He was also a Mason, being a member of the Masonic Lodge #203 in Lewistown, PA. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at Mount Olivet United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg where there will be a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, 5000 Simpson Ferry Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050.
