ESTERLINE. - In Granville township, Mifflin county, Pa., February 3, 1897, of granuloma hungoides, a rare but fatal disease, David A. Esterline, aged 51 years, 11 months and 5 days. Democrat and Sentinel, Lewistown, Thursday, February 4, 1897 GRANVILLE. Death has again visited our neighborhood and removed our estimable comrade and citizen D. A. Esterline. He had been suffering more than a year ago from a disease which baffled the skill of our physicians. He went to Philadelphia and was treated in a hospital there and after quite a lengthy treatment, returned believing that he was cured. He resumed his labors as foreman on the railroad and seemed even more strong and vigorous than previous to his sickness. This continued until about two months ago when the same disease began to develop again and made rapid progress until last Wednesday when death relieved his suffering. Mr. Esterline was a member of the celebrated 49th Reg. Pa. Vols. And did long and faithful service for his country, being wounded at Spottsylvania, Va. The hand of affliction has fallen heavily on the family. During Mr. E.'s first illness their son Harry died suddenly in Altoona; two weeks later the youngest son had his leg broken, and now they are called upon to part with the father and husband. They have the sympathy of the community. Rev. W. R. Picken, of Osceola, conducted the funeral services, assisted by Rev. H. M. Ash. Democrat and Sentinel, Lewistown, Thursday, February 11, 1897
