Samuel R. Helwig, 81, of Thompsontown, passed away at 2:15 a.m. Sunday, June 23,
2024, at his residence.
Born on Nov. 19, 1942, in McAlisterville, Juniata County, he is a son of the late
Russell D. and Julia (Varner) Helwig.
On Aug. 20, 1967, he married his surviving wife, Betty L. (Burns) Helwig.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Samuel R. Helwig of Leesburg,
VA; seven siblings, Glenda Helwig, Judy Harling, Nancy Rogers, Roxie Portzline,
Rodney Helwig, Vicky Selvoski, and Sharon Brown.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Ronald
Helwig, Shirley Soder, and Gail Cohick.
Interment will follow at Goodwill Cemetery, Bunkertown.
