Jonathan Henry, who lives three miles from Siglerville, died of cancer of the 
lip. He was born June 30, 1811. He was buried Salem Cemetery.

Jonathan Henry, who we have mentioned at other times as suffering of cancer 
for about a year, departed this life on Saturday night [April 11] at his home 
where he has lived for about fifty years, a good part of that time alone. He 
was a truthful honest man and esteemed by all who knew him. His wife died about 
twenty-six years ago with the same ailment.

Funeral on Monday, services in the Lutheran Church, conducted by Rev. Neff, 
after which the remains were followed to the Old Salem graveyard by quite 
number of sympathizing friends, where he was laid to rest along side his wife 
and other friends who had preceded him. He was 85 years 9 months and 11 
days. As to the number of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren 
your correspondents has not been informed  but doubtless no one in the 
township ever left such a number of descendants.

By the decease of Jonathan Henry, Mifflin County loses one of its oldest 
citizens. Recently he was a great sufferer from a cancerous face, which at 
his extreme age drew heavily upon his system, and finally taking his life.
 
Mr. Henry was the father of 12 children, 8 of whom survive him, together with 
94 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
He lived at the same place for 45 years and 8 of these, he lived alone.
