He was engaged at the new piers of the railroad bridge across the Juniata at that point, cutting stone, and in passing a car on the roadbed above him, one of the large stones with which it was loaded, fell from the car, striking and pinning him to the ground, crushing the life out of him almost instantly. When picked up, he presented a horrible spectacle, being a shapeless mass. His head was crushed, neck broken, and both legs broken and mangled. He leaves a wife to mourn his sudden and tragic death.
