The sad news was received in this city last evening of the death of Joseph Newman, esq., last Sunday, at his home in Yeagertown, Pa. The 'Squire was about 65 years of age and is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Charles Myers. He was a veteran of two wars - the Mexican and the Rebellion - in both of which he served with great credit to himself and his country. He was also a justice of the peace at the time of his death, and was highly esteemed in the community where he had made his home. His many long-time friends in this city will hear with deep regret of his being summoned to the Beyond, but not without hope - for truly he is at rest with his Great Commander. His remains will be taken to Potter's Mills, Centre county, where the interment will take place tomorrow morning about 11 o'clock. Altoona Mirror, Altoona, Pa., Tuesday Evening, April 11, 1893
