Peel, 76, of Hellam, formerly of McAlisterville, passed away at 8:00 AM, Sunday, April 23, 2023 at the Pleasant Acres Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in York. Born September 17, 1946 in McAlisterville, Juniata County, she is a daughter of the late Charles and Bessie (Moyer) Rickenbaugh. On November 4, 1967, she married her late husband, Lynn Wesley Peel, with whom she was blessed to share more than 10 years of marriage before his sudden passing on March 9, 1978. She is survived by her daughters, Laurie Herbst and her husband Michael of Windsor and Jacqueline Peel of Dillsburg; two grandchildren, Ryan Herbst and Emily Herbst, both of Windsor; one brother, Ronald Rickenbaugh and his wife Sue of Mifflintown; two sisters in law, Beverly Rickenbaugh of Edgerton, MN and Suzanne Peel of Lavelle, PA; fifteen nieces, nephews, and their spouses and families; and many, many good friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul “Jim” Rickenbaugh and Robert Rickenbaugh; one niece, Holly Rickenbaugh; and one nephew, Norman Rickenbaugh. Mrs. Peel was a 1964 graduate of East Juniata High School and was a member and attended Pine Grove United Methodist Church, Mifflintown where, throughout the years, was involved in many committees and activities within the church. She was employed and retired in 2006 after more than 20 years of service to the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. Cindy enjoyed crossword puzzles, Penn State Football, and Hallmark Christmas movies; however, her greatest joy came from time spent with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.
