Peachey Opened her home to many people Martha E. Peachey, 75, of 9639 Front Mountain Road, Allensville, died at 6:15 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2007, at Altoona Regional Health System Trauma Center. Born May 29, 1931, in Belleville, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Ada (Peachey) Byler. She was united in marriage to John A. Peachey March 28, 1953. Mr. Peachey survives at their Allensville residence. Mrs. Peachey is also survived by four children, Virginia Renno and husband, Robert, Mount Pleasant; and Rose Kauffman and husband, Crist; Gideon Peachey and wife, Annette; and Lowell Peachey and wife, Savilla, all of Mill Creek; 15 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and Marta Roberts and husband, Russell, Lewistown. Marta spent every summer and holidays with the Peachey family as as Fresh Air child from the time she was 5 years old. She came to live with the family permanently when she was a sophomore in high school. She is also survived by a twin sister, Mary Byler, Martinsburg; and five additional siblings, Anna Hartzler and husband, George, Mill Creek; Edith Kanagy, Belleville; Flora Byler, Allensville; Emma Jane Roth and husband, Nelson, Belleville; and Jefferson R. Byler and wife, Lydia, McAlevys Fort. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Tilma Harshbarger, Florence Vaughn and Ethel Byler; and an infant brother, Raymond Byler. Mrs. Peachey was a member of the Allensville Mennonite Church, where she belonged to the Hannah's Helpers Sunday school class and participated in the Sister's Sewing Circle. From 1957 to 1986, she faithfully worked with her husband on the family farm. Mrs. Peachey took great joy in creating a warm and loving home for her family and opened her home to many people. She enjoyed and valued family gatherings, and she liked feeding and watching birds. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, at the Allensville Mennonite Church, with Pastor Rod Lehman and the Rev. Nelson Roth officiating. Interment will be made in the Locust Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 5:30-8:30 p.m. this evening, Tuesday, April 10. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Allensville Mennonite Church, P.O. Box 35, Allensville, PA 17002.
