Peters of this place died at her home on Church street on Christmas, aged 59 years, 3 months and 9 days. Mrs. Peters had been in delicate health for some time but for about two weeks prior to her death she suffered with pneumonia. On Christmas day she sat down to dinner with her family chatting in her usual cheerful manner, and after the meal was over she arose and without assistance walked to the sitting room, seating herself in her invalid chair never to rise and mingle with her dear ones around the festive board again, and at 3 o'clock she passed to the great beyond "from whence no traveler ere returns," leaving behind a husband, six sons and two daughters to mourn the loss of a devoted wife and mother. She was an active member of the Methodist church of this place and respected and loved by all who knew her. In the absence of her pastor, Rev. J. S. Sauser, who was unable to leave the bedside of his wife who was seriously ill, the funeral services were conducted by Revs. Spangler of Yeagertown, and A. H. Parker of this place, after which she was laid to rest in the brick church cemetery, her remains being followed by a large concourse of sorrowing friends. "The Lord giveth and taketh away," and in Him alone can the weary find rest. Green by the grass that grows in lovely verdure o'er the mound of this sainted mother, and "may hers be the peace that passeth all understanding."
