ELIZABETH REED Mrs. Elizabeth Reed, formerly of Lewistown, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Siers, in Altoona on Wednesday morning, aged 82 years. Deceased was widow of John S. Reed, who died in Lewistown thirteen years ago, and since then has resided in Altoona. Her illness was brief, with a complication of diseases. She was an active member of the First Methodist Church of Altoona. She is survived by the following children: Mrs. Wm. Siers and Mrs. J. H. McCord, both of Altoona; Albert J. of Baltimore; Mrs. Riden of Lewistown; Albert J. Seeleysville, Indiana; W. H., Baltimore; John Harper, Salina O.; Edward, Thomas and Nathan, all of Chicago. Funeral services were held in Altoona Thursday morning, after which the body was brought to the residence of W. C. Davies on Valley Street, Lewistown, and from there the funeral took place yesterday afternoon. Lewistown Democrat, and Sentinel April 28, 1900 _____ MRS. ELIZABETH REED Mrs. Elizabeth Reed, widow of John S. Reed, formerly of Lewistown, after a brief illness with a complication of diseases, died at the home of her daughter, Mr. William M. Siers, in Altoona, Pa., Wednesday morning of last week, aged 82 years and 26 days. She was born in Montoursville, Pa., but since the death of her husband in Lewistown thirteen years ago has made her home with her daughter in Altoona, Pa. Mrs. Reed was a remarkably active woman and returned but a short time ago from a visit to Luzerne County. She was a consistent member of the Methodist church and was identified with all branches of charitable work, and is well remembered by many citizens in the vicinity. She is survived by the following children: Mrs. Wm. Siers and J. H. McCord, of Altoona, Pa.; Mrs. James Riden of Lewistown, Pa.; Albert J. of Seeleysville, Indiana; Rev. W. H. of Baltimore, Md.; John Harper, Salina, Ohio and Edward, Thomas and Nathan, all of Chicago, Ill.; also a large number of grandchildren, of which Mrs. W. C. Davies, residing on Valley Street, is one. Funeral services were held at the residence of Wm. Siers, in Altoona, Thursday morning, conducted by the Rev. H. L. Jacobs, after which the remains were brought to the residence of W. C. Davies, in this place, the interment being made in the Methodist Cemetery Friday afternoon. Siers, in Altoona, Mrs. Elizabeth Reed, widow of John Reed, formerly of Lewistown, departed this life, aged 82 years and 19 days. Since her childhood she has been a faithful member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, being regular in her attendance at the various services and always among the foremost doing anything that would result in the advancement of the Master's Kingdom and the betterment of the condition of humanity. She was the mother of a large family several of whom have become prominent in the ministry and the professions. The following children survive to mourn their loss: Mrs. S. C. Riden, Lewistown; Mrs. Wm. Siers and Mrs. J. H. McCord, Altoona; Rev. W. Hurst Reed, Baltimore; Albert J., Seeleysville, Indiana; John Harper, Salem, O., Edward, Nathan and Thomas, Chicago. The remains were brought to the home of W. C. Davies, and funeral services were held Friday afternoon. Internment in the family lot in the Methodist Cemetery.
