Born Feb. 15, 1934, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late William Harrison and Beulah Augusta (Searer) Snyder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife, Clara “June” (Smith) Snyder, in 2014; son, Steven Eugene Snyder; and siblings, Richard, Norman and William Snyder, Ruth Shirk, and Irma White. He was the last of his immediate family. Donald is survived by: his son, Edward C. Snyder and wife, Cheryl, of Lewistown; daughter-in-law, Jan McCollum; granddaughters, Corinne Snyder, Jennifer Yutuc and husband, Dennis, and Lauren Randall and husband, Doug; and four great-grandchildren, Olivia (Corinne), Steven and MeLani (Jennifer and Dennis), and Adrienne (Lauren and Doug). He was a Burnham High School, Class of 1952 graduate. Donald was a U.S. Navy veteran who served from Feb. 1953 to Feb. 1957 aboard the USS Forrestal during the Korean Conflict. On May 31, 1953, he married the love of his life and his high school sweetheart, June, with whom he shared a blessed 61 years. He was a longstanding member of Burnham Church of the Brethren and served in many positions. Pete was deacon of the church and a member of the choir for many years, and his Bible knowledge was extensive. He retired from Standard Steel Corporation as a Supervisory Brick Layer. Pete enjoyed attending his granddaughters’ sporting events. He was instrumental in supporting and ensuring the Burnham Community Pool remained open to neighborhood youth. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family, with private interment at Juniata Memorial Park.
