WILL OF MICHAEL RUBLE, SENIOR (Mifflin County, Pennsylvania Records) Made April 21, 1838 Probated (?) In the name of God, Amen. I, Michael Ruble, Senr, of Derry Township, Mifflin County and State of Pennsylvania, being sick and weak in body but of sound mind, memory and understanding, blessed be God for the same, do make and publish this my last will and testament, in manner and and form following, to wit. Principally and first of all) I comend my imortal soul into the hands of God, who gave1 and my body to the earth to be buried in a decent and Christian like manner, at the discreation of my Executors hereinafter named - - - -. And as to such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me with in this life, I gave and dispose of the same in the following manner -- First, is my will and I do direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be duly paid as soon as can be after my decease - - I gave and bequeath to my beloved wife Marget two cows and four sheep which is to be fed and kept in fodder and pasture on the farm and eight dollars in cash yearly and every year during her natural life, and sufficient firewood, halled and cut at her door, she is to have the house and garden where I now live with one bed and bedding and the kitchen furniture now in the house, with two hundred pounds pork and one hundred pounds beef and twenty bushls wheat yearly and every year so long as she lives all of which is to be paid for by my executors, which said bequests are to be in lieu of her dower. It is my will and I do order that all my live stock be sold by my executors imediately after my decease (except three cows and four sheep) the grain in the ground to be cut and thrashed and sold in the bushel by my executors and moneys arriseing from the aforesaid sales to be appropriated to the payment of my debts. To my son John I give and bequeath all my land as follows, be is to have the farm on rent at the valuation and apraisement of said rent to be maid by David Eshleman, Robert Means and Henry Aurand, until all my just debts are extinguished or paid. Said land to be subject to the following payments of legacies and disbursements - The above rent to be settled and payd to my Executors which they are to appropriate to the payments of my debts or if said John should pay any of the debts the receipts for such payments is to be received in the pay of rent on settlement with Executors which settlement of rent is to be made yearly. To my son Mathias I gave and bequeath five hundred dollars which money is to be paid by my son John one year after all my debts are paid. To my daughter, Mary Ruble, entermarried with Jacob Shilling, I give and bequeath three hundred dollars two years after my debts shall have been paid - To my daughter Nancy Ruble, entermarried with Peter Secrist -I give and bequeath three hundred dollars three years after my debts have been paid. To my daughter Elizabeth Ruble, entermarried with Henry Musser - I give and bequeath three hundred dollars to be paid four years after all my debts have been paid. I give and bequeath to my daughter Susanah Ruble, entermarried vith John Dunmire three hundred dollars to be paid five years after all my debts have been paid. To my daughter Sarah Ruble, entermarried with John Aurand, I give and bequeath three hundred dollars to be paid six years after my debts have been paid. To my daughter Marget Ruble, entermarried with Peter Rush, I give and bequeath three hundred dollars to be paid seven years after my debts have been paid. To my son Henry Ruble I give and bequeath seven hundred dollars to be paid eight years after my debts have been paid, also the money that my Fox horse sells for is to be put to interest by my executors until he arrives at the age of twenty-one years at which time he is to receive the amount of principle and interest from my executors. To my daughter Hannah, I give and bequeath three hundred dollars to be paid nine years after my debts are paid, and one cow, one bureau, one bed and bedding. All the above legacies is to be paid by my son, John Ruble, who is to have one cow before excepted and four hogs from my present stock, after my debts are paid, my son, John Ruble, is to pay eight dollars in cash yearly and every to my wife, Marget and twenty bushels wheat, two hundred pounds pork and one hundred beef, also to hall and cut her firewood at the door of her house and the Executors are to be free from finding any of the above articles for her--. A lastly, I nominate and appoint John Snyder and Henry Hannawalt to by my executors of this my last will here revokeing all other wills, legacies and bequests by me heretofore made and declaring this and no other to be my last Will and Testament.
