(Stroudsburg, Pa.) 1840-1853: May 29, 1840 May 1840 On Monday last, Mr. Hayweiser, of the borough of Gettysburgh, was deprived of life in a mournful manner. He was engaged in digging sand at the southern end of town when a bank, which was considerably undermined, fell upon him and crushed him to death instantly. He was a German somewhat advanced in years.
