Jeffersonian Republican. (Stroudsburg, Pa.) 1853-1911: February 27, 1873
Elizabeth and Emily Burson are the subjects of this memoir : They were the daughters
of James and Deborah Burson, and were born in Stroud township, Monroe Co., Pa.,
Elizabeth entering upon this life in the year 1808 and Emily in the year
1813...Elizabeth ascended to the world beyond on the 27th of November and Emily on
the 5th of December following. God did not deprive them of each others society very
long. They have met again across the river, safe in the eternal home. Elizabeth had
been afflicted for more than 20 years and her death was long expected, yet sudden
when the stroke came as death always is. Emily died unexpectedly both to the family
and friends. Sudden death brought sudden glory...
