(Stroudsburg, Pa.) 1853-1911: April 09, 1868 In Stroud township, on the 2nd inst., Mr. Abraham Hasbrouck aged about 82 years. Mr. H. was a soldier of th War of 1812-15, and served under Gen. Scott at the storming of Fort Erie. He also participated in the battle of Chippawa and several other battles. For many years he was engaged in various parts of this county, as an educator of youth, in which vocation he was very successful, until the infirmities of age admonished him to withdraw from the active arena of life. There is hardly a middle aged man in the county who was born here, who cannot recall some personal reminiscence of a quarter to school to old Father Hasbrouck.
