Jeffersonian Republican. (Stroudsburg, Pa.) 1853-1911: December 03, 1874
George La Bar died at his residence November 28, 1874, aged 111 years, 9 months and
24 days...born in Northampton County, Pa., but has been a resident of this county
for several generations back, his immediate home being in Smithfield tsp., one or
two miles west of Craig's Meadows. He was of French extraction, his grandfather
coming from France in about 1730, in consequence of the Roman Catholic persecution
of the Huguenots or Protestants of that country at that time...
