Mr. Shelley, who had lived his entire life in Monroe county, had been living with his nephew for several years. During the past few weeks he had complained of a cold, but said this morning he was feeling much better. He went into the cellar to chop some kindling and in a short time one of the children told Mrs. Johns that he was lying on the floor. She immediately summoned aid and he was carried upstairs, and died a few minutes later. District Attorney Shafer was notified and County Detective J.C. Shafer investigated the case. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Samuel Haines, of Stroudsburg, two sons, John, of Duryea, and Frank Shelley, a lineman, of 62 Craig street, Palmer township, and one daughter Nettie, of New York.
