Stroudsburg Times, Pub. date: Thursday, January 9, 1890 Dungan - Death of Harry B. Dungan. The sudden and fatal illness of Harry B. Dungan, of this place, was very unwelcome news to all. Although he had been a sufferer for some time of that most fatal of dieases, consumption, yet his condition was not thought to be so dangerous, and his stay with us so limited. The deceased was a son of Frank and Lucy Dungan, was born in Hamilton township, and was 26 years of age. He was a bright, energetic, genial young man, and followed the business of photography with much success until the ravages of his disease unfitted him to labor in this capacity. He was confined to his house but four days before his death, and when his dangerous condition became known to the public the large number of callers who were almost constantly passing in and out told loudly and impressively of his large number of sympathizing friends. The calling continued until he became too weak to receive them, and on Thursday, January 2, at 4 o'clock, p.m., death relieved him of his sufferings. Although previous to his confinement he was not a professing chrisitan, yet a few days before he died he professed conversion, and gave ample proof of a mutual recognition between God and his soul. He leaves a devoted wife and two children to mourn his untimely departure. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. S. G. Grove at the M.E. Church on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Interment at Stroudsburg cemetery. About eighty from Stroudsburg attended the funeral, which was preached in German in the Union church at Brodheadsville on Sunday, Rev. Lowery officiating. Stroudsburg Times, Pub. date: Thursday, February 20, 1890 Bedford - On Wednesday afternoon, February 10th, the grave closed over all that was mortal of Mr. Samuel Bedford, an active member of the Young Men's Christian Association, and a more touching sight was surely never before witnessed at the solemn burial of the dead. Much sorrow and sadness of course there was, for there is a tear for all who die. The followers to the grave in Zimmerman's Cemetery were many, and many eager eyes were turned to look at the hearse that contained the dust of their beloved friend. Around the Open grave were gathered a large number of the Association members, and after a beautiful prayer by Rev. P. J. Kain, Rev. J. S. Custard having conducted the funeral services at the Union Chapel, suddenly the chorus of young men's voices, led by Mr. Treible, began a well-known hymn. Many were thrilled, but all around the grave were deeply moved as the sweet, simple words of the hymn were sung.
