Nicholas Custer The 1772 Philadelphia tax List has numbers by land holders.Ê Under some there is a separate block under them that shows with what looks like Ò& H.Ó before men over 21 with no land, most of them have same surname as owner and are sons. The 1772 tax record of Nicholas Kuster shows him in Providence Twp. with 20 acres Land & Dwelling, 2 horses, 2 cows, 6 Sheep.ÊÊ Under him is Ò& HÓ Paul Kuster Mont. Co. Deed Book 8:75 17 May 1795Ê John Vanderslice, Smith, of the township of Providence, Smith, sells Nicholas Custer of same place, Smith, for 250 pounds Messauge plantation and two contiguous tracts situate in Providence Beginning at a stone in the middle of the great road and in a line of Peter Hornings land (now Abraham ReiffÕs land)....Thence down the same road S 48 deg E, 10 pers and 1/10 per to a stone.... Thence by the same Hornings land S 2 deg. E 32 and 1/16 pers to a stone in a line of late estate of Jacob Vanderslice... Thence by the same S 82 deg W., 20 pers to a black oak tree....Thence by the other piece intended to be hereby granted N 16 deg. E 39 perches to place of beginning containing 3 acres & 33 square perches.Ê Other piece beginning at a stone the corner of the sd. Jacob Vanderslice.Ê Thence by the same S 82 deg. E, 94 pers. to a black oak corner of above describedÊ land....Thence by the same N 16 deg. E, 39 pers. to a stone in the middle of the great road....Thence along the sd. road N 47 and ? W. , 62 and ? pers. .... Thence by land of Conrad Ratzman and land late of Joseph Richardson, S 48 deg. W, 88 and 6/10 pers. to the place of beginning containing 27 acres. Being the same two tracts that Samuel Richardson by indenture of the 21st day of May 1774 did grant and convey unto Reynar Vanderslice, which sd. ReynarÊ Vanderslice and his wife Mary by their indenture bearing date 20 Jul 1782 did grant to their son John Wit. Henry Newberry & Eleanor Pawling, Rec. 26 Nov 1794.
