He had been suffering from cancer of the neck for a year or two past. Mr. Lacey, we believe, was a native of Camden NJ, but went to Birdsboro when a young man to work in the iron business; afterwards lived in Pottstown for a number of years and worked at the Pottstown Iron Co. In 1878 he sold his residence on Franklin St. and removed his family on 3/12/1878 to the west with the Kansas colony from this place and vicinity. In Kansas he engaged in farming for some time and then disposed of his property and took up his residence in Lawrence. He was a brother-in-law of Thomas Francis, this borough, an uncle of Mrs. Daniel W. Landis, and had numerous friends here who will regret to learn of his decease. He leaves a wife and 4 children. Additional Comments: James LACEY married Mary Kerst MOHR of Union Twp., Berks Co. Mary K MOHR was dau of Elias N MOHR and Mary B KERST. She was a sister of my gr2grandmother, Charlotte K MOHR m Geo W SAVAGE, whose dau Clara SAVAGE m Daniel W LANDIS. According to the 1880 Census, James LACEY was born in Wales England, not Camden NJ.
