Landis age 36 years, 8 months, 20 days. Relatives and friends are respectively invited to attend the funeral from the family residence No. 141 Chestnut St on Saturday at 10:00am. Services in the First Baptist church at 10:30am. Interment at Mt. Zion Cemetery. 2) BURIAL OF DANIEL W. LANDIS: (Montgomery Ledger Newspaper) The mortal remains of our esteemed fellow townsman, Daniel W. Landis, were laid to rest in Mt. Zion Cemetery on Saturday. After a brief service at the residence, the cortege proceeded to the Baptist Church, where impressive services were held in presence of a large concourse of people. The body reposed in an elegant casket, and the floral tributes were chaste and appropriate. "A Token of Love" from wife and mother was typified by a broken column of roses and immortelles; a beautiful floral barp and sickle and sheaf of wax flowers, the gift of the employees in the store; an anchor from the Sunday School; a pillow with the word "Gone" from Mr. and Mrs. E.K. Snell; a bouquet from Lottie and Walter, the deceased's little girl and boy, and bouquet from Mr. and Mrs. Hallman. The services commenced by the choir singing "Shall We Meet Beyond The River". After the reading of the scriptures and prayer, the choir sang "Beyond The Smiling And The Weeping." Rev. B.G. Parker then delivered a discourse from Ps 08:5 - 'A father of the fatherless and a judge of the widows." The pall bearers were: from the church - Newton Wanger, W.P. Bach, C.W. Rambo and B.F. Defrain; from business men - W.C. Beacher, John S. Weand, Kinzer Van Buskirk and H.A. Custer. Additional Comments: Note: The wife/widow was Clara SAVAGE, dau of George W SAVAGE and Charlotte K MOHR of Coventry, Chester Co. The little girl and boy in the article were my grandmother, Charlotte Savage Landis aka Lottie Landis, and her brother Walter Savage Landis.
