Patterson is listed as attorney in census.) In the name of God. Amen. I Jane Boyd of Derry Township Montour County Pennsylvania considering the uncertainty of human life being of sound and disposing mind and memory (for which I testify my gratitude to Almighty God) do make publish and declare this my last will and testament as follows to wit First. It is my will that my just debts and funeral expenses be paid. Second. I will and bequeath to my niece Jane Patterson the sum of fifty dollars. Third. I will and bequeath my nieces Jane Patterson Hannah Patterson Rebecca Patterson and Mary E. Patterson my bed and bedclothes, clothing and books, and all my other personal property except notes, bonds, mortages and money, to be taken by them share and share alike. Fourth. All the rest and residue of my estate I will and bequeath to the following named persons to wit Matthew B Patterson Jane Patterson Hannah Patterson Rebecca Patterson Robert Patterson and Mary E. Patterson (children of the late Rev John B Patterson) and Matthew B Hope and Margaret Criswell (Children of the late Richard Hope Esq) to be received taken and held by the above named persons, or the survivors of them at my decease, share and share alike, that is each of the above named (end of page one) eight persons to receive an equal amount of the residue of my estate. Fifth. It is my will that the executors Administrators and heirs of my brother James Boyd late of Susquehanna County Penn. deceased be released from the payment of a bond I hold against said James Boyd signed by him in his lifetime and from all claims whatever I may have against his estate. And lastly. I appoint William M. Patterson and Robert Patterson of Montour County Penna. Executors of this my last will and testament. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this______day of _____in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty Six. Signed: Thomas C. Robison James Shoemaker (end of page two) Montour County ss Registers Office March 3rd 1859 There personally appeared Thomas C. Robison and James Shoemaker or the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing last Will and testament of Jane Boyd deceased and on their solemn oaths did say that they were present and did see and hear Jane Boyd of Derry Township Montour county deceased, the testatrix there in named seal published and declare the same as and for his last will and testament and that as the doing thereof she was of sound desposing and memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge and belief Signed: Thomas C. Johnston Register for the probate of Wills & in and for the County of Montour was proved and approved the last Will and Testament of Jane Boyd late of Derry Township as said County deceased and Letter and text amounting in due and common form of law were given to William M. Patterson Executor in the said Will named/Robert Patterson not being in the state of Pennsylvania/the said William M. Patterson having been duly sworn to administer the said Estate according to law and to comply with the directions of the collateral inheritance law.
