The title-page bears the following inscription: "CHURCH-BOOK "In which the affairs of the Four united Reformed Congregations shall be recorded, viz: Eastown, Greenwich, Dryland and Plainfield (Blaenfield). Eastown, August 1, 1767." On the next page we read : "A record in this Church-Book of transactions and occurrences that were especially noteworthy (richt remarquabel)" "Anno, 1768, September 7. THE COETUS was held in Eastown." [By the Coetus is meant the Synod of the Reformed Church. By this name it was known from 1747 to 1793, that is to say, so long as it was dependent upon the Church in Holland it was known as THE COETUS, but when, in 1793, the body separated from the Church in Holland and became independent, it was thereafter known as THE SYNOD.] ANNO 1787. May 30. It was resolved by the four united congregations, Eastown, Greenwich, Dryland and Plainfield, that the Elder of the congregation at Eastown, Mr. John Deichman, should be sent along with the minister as Deputy to the Coetus to be held at Lancaster, June 6, 1787. FREDERICUS HERMAN, Pfarrer. ANNO 1788. April 5. It was resolved by the Elders and Deacons of the four united Christian congregations, Eastown, Blaenfield, Truckland and Greenwich, that the Elder of the church in Blaenfield, Mr. Frederick Hauser, shall be sent with the minister as Deputy to the Coetus, which will be held April 23, in Reading. FREDERICK HERMANN, V.D.M. ANNO 1789. June 10. The Coetus of Pennsylvania was held in Philadelphia to which, along with the minister, Mr. Jacob Arndt, Senior, Esquire, was sent as the Deputy of the four congregations. FRID. HERMAN, Prediger ibi. ANNO 1794. It was resolved by the four united congregations, Easton, Dryland, Greenwich and Plainfield, that the Elder of the congregation in Easton, Mr. Michael Odenwaelder, should be sent along with the minister as Deputy to the Synod which meets on the 18th of May in Reading.
