LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF FREDERICK KUHN Northampton County, Pennsylvania Case # 1335 Written 5 October 1785; Probated 12 April 1790 In the Name of God Amen; I Frederick Kuhn of Forks Township in the County of Northampton and Common-Wealth of Pennsylvania Yeoman being Aged but of sound mind memory and understanding (blessed be God) do this fifth day of October in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and eighty five make publish and declare this my Last Will & Testament in manner and form following to wit- First I recommend my Soul into the hand of God Almighty who gave it, and my body to the Earth to be Interred in a Christianlike and decent manner- And I do Order and direct that my Just Debts and funeral Expences be honorably discharged and satisfied And I do give and bequeath unto my beloved Wife Ann all that Plantation and tract of Land whereon I now dwell situate in Forks Township aforesaid bounded by the River Legheh and Land of Frederick Wilhelm, Jacob Peiffer and the Dry Lands Tract and containing about one hundred and sixty five Acres more or less together with all movable or Personal Estate whatsoever. To hold have and enjoy the same unto my said wife Ann for and during the term of her Natural Life. She making no Waste or destruction there of. And it is my Will that my sons Abraham, Isaac 7 Jacob remain with their Mother on the said premisis during the period afroesaid - And after the decease of my said Wife I do give and bequeath unto my two oldest sons Abraham and Isaac and their Heirs and Assigns as Tenants in common but not as joint tenants All my said Plantation and Tract of land situate, bounded and being as afreosaid & And also all my Moveable and Personal Estate whatsoever, all which Estate Real and Personal I do Value at the sum of six hundred pounds lawful Money of Pennsylvania; Subject nevertheless to the payment of the following legacies which I do give and bequeath unto my other four Children to wit- unto my son Jacob the sum of One hundred pounds; unto my son John the sum of One hndred pounds; unto my son Stephen the sum of One hundred pounds and to my Daughter Catherine, the wife of Frederick Wagner, sixty pounds she having received part of her portion heretofore. The said legacies to be paid unto my said four Children and their heirs in manner following to wit; At the expiration of One Year from the decease of my said Wife unto my son Jacob thirty pounds; and one year after unto my son John thirty pounds; and within one year after unto my son Stephen thirty pounds and in one year after unto my daughter Catherine thirty pounds And then within one year after the last payment unto my son Jacob 30 pounds and so on from year to Year in Total as aforesaid from Jacob to Catherine until their respective Shares or Legacies be fully paid and satisfied and without any Interest whatsoever And I do hereby Nominate and appoint my trusty friend Peter Saylor Executive of this my Last Will and Testament hereby disannulling and making Void all other and former Wills and Testaments by Me heretofore made Testifying and confirming this only to be my Last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I the said Testator Frederick Kuhn have hereunto set my Hand and Seal the day and year within written - ---- Frederick Kuhn [signature in Gothic German] Signed Sealed Published and Declared by the said Frederick Kuhn the Testator and for his Last Will & Testament in the presence of us, who in his presence and at his request have hereunto subscribed the same as Witnesses--- William Roup Rob't Trail Jacob Arndt, Jun. On the 12th day of April in the Year of our Lord 1790 personally came William Roup and Robert Trail Two of the witnesses of the within written Last Will and Testament of Frederick Kuhn deceased who being duly sworn for his Last Will and testament; and that at the doing thereof he the said Testator was of sound mind Memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge and belief and also that they these deponants together with the said Jacob Srndt, Jr. Subscribed their names as witness to the same in the presence and at the request of the said Testator and in the presence of each Other Witness my hand.
