We encourage links to the state and county table of contents. ____________________________________________________________ Will of Casper Ritter Northampton Co., PA Will Book 4 page 406 Names mentioned in will - Ritter & Roth In the Name of God Amen, I Casper Ritter of Bethlehem township in the County of Northampton and State of Pennsylvania, Yeoman, being very sick and Weak in body but of sound mind memory and understanding blessed be God for the same, do make and publish this my last will and testament, in manner and form following to wit. Principally and first of all, I commend my immortal Soul into the hands of God, who gave it, and my body to the earth, to be buried in a decent and Christian like manner at the discretion of my executors hereinafter named; and as to such worldly estate, wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life, I give and dispose of the same in the following manner, to wit, first it is my will that all my just Debts and funeral expenses be duly satisfied and paid out of my estate by my executors hereinafter named, And I give and bequeath unto my dearly beloved wife Catharina the upper Northerly front room, in my House where I know live, Bed and Bedstead, and as much hausehold goods and kitchen furniture as she shall want for her own use, during her natural life or as she shall remain my Widow, and also one Mare and two Cows of her own choosing out of my stock, and my three sons Isaac, Casper, and Thomas is to find Hay and pasture for them during the time aforesaid, and they are also to give unto her yearly and every year Ten bushels of Rye and five Bushels of Wheat, one body load of Corn in the ears, and four bushels of buckwheat, and to sow one quarter of an acre with flax, and plant half quarter of Pertatoes for her and find sufficient firewood for her and deliver it to her Door, ready cut, all during the time aforesaid, And also pay unto her the sum of fifty pounds as soon as conveniently can be after my decease; And I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Elizabeth the Wife of Abraham Roth the sum of One thousand pounds, Lawful money, in manner following (of which she hath already received one hundred and three pounds) ninety seven pounds on the twenty seventh Day of May next, one hundred pounds on the twenty seventh Day of May AD 1813, one hundred pounds on the twenty seventh Day of May AD 1814, one hundred pounds on the twenty seventh Day of May AD 1817 and so on yearly on the twenty seventh Day of May until the whole one thousand pounds are paid, and I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Maria the sum of one Thousand pounds Lawful money to be paid to her or to her heirs or assigns in manner following, one hundred pounds thereof on the twenty seventh Day of May in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifteen, one hundred pounds on the twenty seventh Day of May in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixteen, one hundred pounds on the twenty seventh Day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty three, and so on yearly on the twenty seventh Day of May until the whole is paid, And I give unto my two sons Isaac and Casper four Horses waggon and gears, waggon Cover and Handscrew, ploughs and Harrows, and four Cows And I give and devise unto my three sons, Isaac, Casper and Thomas and to their heirs and assigns, all my lands Situate in Northampton County, three tracts in Bethlehem township, two tracts in Nazareth township and one tract in Moor township, containing in the whole about three hundred acres be the same more or less To have and to hold the said six tracts of land with appurtenances unto them the said Isaac, Casper and Thomas as their heirs and assigns forever, as Tenents in Common, paying thereout the aforesaid Legacies unto my two Daughters their heirs and Assigns and unto my said wife Catharina her Dowrey and my two Sons Isaac and Casper, is to give my son Thomas four years Schooling and unto my Daughter Maria as much as is necessary and find them in victuals and Drink washing and Clothing during their going to school, and when my Son Thomas shall begin to work for himself they shall give him a good Horse, and shall give unto my Daughter Maria four Cows and one horse, And my sons Isaac and Casper, shall have my son Thomas his share of land in use as long as he goes to school, And as to the remainder of my personal estate of what nature soever, I give and bequeath the same unto my three sons, Isaac, Casper and Thomas, and to their heirs and assigns. And lastly I nominate constitue and appoint my Son Isaac Ritter, and my friend Matthias Gross to be the executors of this my last will, hereby revoking all other wills, Legacies and bequests by me heretofore made, declaring this, and no other, to be my last will and Testament. In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the fifteenth Day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eleven. (Signed in German Casper Ritter) Signed, sealed, published pronounced and declared by the said Testator, as his last will and testament, in the presence of us, who in his presence, and at his request, have subscribed as Witnesses Daniel Ritter, Peter Ritter Northampton County, ss, On the 21st Day of October AD 1811. Before me Philip H. Mattes, Deputy Register for the Probate of Wills etc. in and for the County aforesaid Came Daniel Ritter and Peter Ritter whose names are above subscribed as Witnesses to the foregoing Instrument of Writing purporting to be the Last Will etc. of Casper Ritter dec'd, and being duly sworn according to Law, did depose and say that they were present at the Execution thereof and did see and hear the said Daniel (sic) Ritter, sign, seal, publish and declare the same as and for his Last Will and Testament, that at the Time of so doing he was of sound Mind Memory and Understanding to the best of Knowledge and Beliefs and also that they, these Deponents, subscribed their hands to the same as Witnesses in the presence and at the Request of the said Testator and in the presence of each other Witness my Hand Philip H.
