8/11/1900 Harrisburg, PA Prof. J. E. Bahner Hickory Corners, PA Dear friend, 106 [degrees] in the shade and still getting warmer was the weather report at four this afternoon. Almost too warm to write letters, don't you think? We cannot stay in the house and sew with any comfort, and as we cannot visit the banks of a brook we find the next best place. This is a brick walk between the two houses. The walk is about three feet wide and all that is to be seen is a very small part of the sky. But only a few more days then we expect to visit all the pretty places around Dauphin. I have stopped for about five minutes and talked to my little niece Margaret, now will try writing again. Well, I had all the news of campmeeting on Monday. Emma thinks it the best ever held. It surely was a blessing to their family for it led to the conversion of three of the children. Did Emma tell you she expects to come back to Dr. Bowman's? Sunday I expect to see Prof. Hunt and also hear him preach. They are having communion services in the Harris St. Church and Prof. Hunt preaches in place of Rev. Erdman. I will have to answer the question he sent with you, I suppose. I have heard Rev. Schlegel three times. Last Sunday morning he preached a very good sermon from he text, "He knoweth the way that I take". The great heat must account for brevity this evening. Very respectfully Mary R. Lyter P. S. I believe you asked concerning the afternoon train to Hbg. After 11.05 A.M., the first train is 6.54 and the late train at 9.45. There is a train passing through Dauphin at 3.05 but it does not stop. There is only one train on the Reading road and it is due at 11.01 A.M. Mary
