8/16/1900 Harrisburg, PA Prof. J. E. Bahner, Hickory Corners, PA Dear friend, Are you surprised that I am so prompt in answering your letter. Your letter is worth an immediate answer, I believe it the most interesting as well as helpfull [sic] I have received. I have enjoyed you [sic] talks very much. Often felt like asking questions. I have kept some of them, too, until I see you. "Prof. Hunt never disappoints" that is what you said. But we are disappointed some times, are we not? I have not heard whether he was here last Sunday or not. If he was I did not see him. Why not do you ask? Sunday morning I awoke with the "quinsy", and for the day and part of Monday I was confined to the couch. It has left me with a severe cold and weak physically. But praise the Lord stronger spiritually. I could not read, on account of weakness of the eyes which always accompanies quinsy, so I had long time for prayer and meditation. It was helpful I assure you. I feel better for having been sick. I expect to be quite well in a few days. You seem to be enjoying your vacation very much. What privileges you have had! Why when I read --. No, I will not say what I intended saying. My vacation is far from what I had expected but I believe God leads in this way and I am satisfied. We cannot know about boarding at college until after school opens. My school will not open before Sept. 10. I come to Myerstown on the afternoon of the 8th. I had a letter from Dr. Bowman to day. He expects an overcrowded house. I am glad altho it may mean that we must board in town. Where? That is the question. If it is possible to be at the station, I will be there. We expect to go to Halifax on the noon train of that day and if we do you may meet my sisters. Wishing you a pleasant close of your vacation and success, through Christ, next Sabbath. I remain, Very respectfully Mary R. Lyter
