THOMAS HAMMER and Wife Deed to JOHN HALL Made July 7, 1798 Recorded May 13, 1803 THIS INDENTURE made the Seventh Day of July in the Year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Ninety eight BETWEEN Thomas Hammer of Chillisquaque Township in the County of Northumberland and State of Pennsylvania and Eleanor his wife of the ONE PART, and John Hall of the same Township, County, and State of the OTHER PART. WHEREAS there was in persuance of a warrant dated the 4th of April, 1786, granted by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania unto the said Thomas Hammer, a Patent for a certain tract of land called "Oak Land", situated on the Chillisquaque Creek, Northumberland County, which is contained in and bounded by the following lines, viz: Beginning at a White Oak Stump, thence by land of John Cummings, North twenty five degrees, West thirty two perches to a White Oak, thence North sixty five degrees, East one hundred and fourteen perches to a Post, thence North twenty five degrees, West five perches and a half to a Post, thence by land of Richard Irwin, North sixty five degrees, East one hundred & thirty perches to a Dogwood, thence by other lands of said Hammer, South thirty degrees, East sixty eight perches to a Chestnut Oak, thence South Fifteen degrees, East thirty six perches to an Elm, thence South forty eight degrees, West twenty two perches to a Black Oak, and thence by Montour's Ridge, South eighty three degrees and a quarter, West two hundred and thirty four perches to the place of Beginning, Containing one hundred and seven acres and a quarter and allowance of six per cent for roads etc. All which reference to the said patent enrolled in the Rolls Office for the State of Pennsylvania in Patent Book No. 34 page 59 will more fully and at length appear. NOW THIS INDENTURE WITNESSETH that the said Thomas Hammer and Eleanor his wife for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred and twenty one pounds fifteen shillings, good and lawful money of the State of Pennsylvania, to them in hand paid at, and before the onsealing and delivery hereof the receipt and payment whereof is hereby confered and acknowledged, Have granted, bargained, sold, aliened, enfoeffed, released, and confirmed, and by these presents DO and each of them DOTH GRANT, bargain, sell, alien, enfoeff, release and confirm unto the said John Hall all the above described TRACT OF LAND as contained in the above as cited, metes and bounds, TOGETHER with all and singular the Buildings, Improvements, Hereditaments, and Appurtenances whatsoever thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining, and the Reversion & Reversions, Remainder & Remainders unto Issues and Profits thereof to have and to hold the said described TRACT of one hundred and seven acres & one quarter and Allowance unto the said John Hall, his Heirs & Assigns, To the only proper use, benefit and behoof of the said John Hall, his Heirs & Assigns for ever. And the said Thomas Hammer and Eleanor his wife for themselves, then and each and every of their Heirs, Executors, & Administrators do covenant, promise, grant, and agree to and with the said John Hall, his heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns that the premises hereby granted or made, mentioned, or entered so to be with the appurtances against them the said Thomas Hammer and Eleanor his wife and against their each and every of their heirs executors and administrators and all manner of person or persons claiming the same from by through or under them or any of them or any person or persons claiming the same by any manner or means whatsoever shall and will warrent and defend by these presents. IN WITNESS WHEREOF the parties to these presents their hands and seals have interchangeably set the day and year first above written. Received on the day of the date of the foregoing indenture of and from the above named John Hall the sum of three hundred and twenty one pounds fifteen shillings in full of the consideration money. BE IT REMEMBERED that on the Eighth day of July in the year one thousand seven hundred and ninety eight, Before me the subscribed, one of the judges of the Court of Common Pleas in and for the County aforementioned, personally came Thomas Hammer and Eleanor his wife the grantors within mentioned who acknowledged the within instrument of writing to be their act and deed & desired the same may be recorded as such. She the said Eleanor being of full age and by me separate and apart from her said husband examined and acknowledged that she executed the within instrument of writing of her own free will & accord without any compulsion or retraint from her said husband.
