Mrs. Kramer dies At Home at age 84 Years                   Mount Carmel Item 

April 5, 1950



Mrs. Jennie Elizabeth (Schucker) Kramer, 84, esteemed resident of 18 S. Hickory 

Street died at her home at 11:55 o'clock last night.  She had been ailing for 

the past five weeks and had been bedfast since last Friday.  

A native of Mable Mrs. Kramer was born March 17, 1866, a daughter of the late 

Jesse and Sarah (Wolfgang) Diehl.  She came to Mount Carmel with her parents at 

the age of one year and she resided on S. Hickory Street since that time.  

During her long lifetime she watched Mount Carmel grow from a sparsely 

settled village into the thriving community  is today and retained an amazing 

memory of events and persons until the end.

Well known and highly respected throughout the town Mrs. Kramer was a member of 

St. Paul's Evangelical United Brethren Church, the Ladies Aid Society of the 

church and the daughters of America.

Her husband Josiah Kramer preceded her in death in 1920 and is survived by seven 

children; Mrs. George Pelstring, Philadelphia; Arthur Schucker, at home; Mrs. 

Fred Dillman, Philadelphia; Jesse and James Schucker, Mount Carmel; Fred 

Schucker, Frackville; and Leroy Kramer, Philadelphia.  She was the last 

member of her immediate family and is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 29 

great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held from the Rothermel Funeral Home, South Market 

Street, on Saturday afternoon at one o'clock.  Rev. E.B. Harris will officiate 

and interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.  

Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday evening.
