The petition of Jonathan Peiffer, intermarried with Leah Swinehart (sic) second daughter of John Ferster late of Little Mahanoy Township dec'-- humbly showeth that the estate of said dec' was divided into four parts and a valuation put on each of them. That Peter Ferster, eldest son, had elected to take tract A at the valuation. Samuel Swinehart intermarried with Elizabeth, second daughter of said dec', had elected to take land B at the valuation. The petitioner intermarried with Leah, 2nd daughter of said dec', now prays the court to award to him the tract of land marked D on the diagram (being the half part) at the valuation, in giving such security to the other heirs for their distributive shares as the court shall order and direct. Whereupon August 8, 1839, Petition read and lands awarded to petitioner. Payment to be secured by bonds and mortgages, 2/3 payable in one year and 1/2 at widow's death. By the Court ______________________________________________________________________ The petition of Jonathan Peiffer of Little Mahanoy Township, humbly showeth that his brother Peter Peiffer lately died intestate leaving issue, two children, Isaac and Caroline, minors under 14 years of age and having no guardians to take care of their persons and estates.--He therefore prays the court to approve John Peiffer Guardian of said minors . Whereupon Augt 7, 1839 petition read & granted bail in $800 for each By the Court ___________________________________________________________________ Peter Pipher dec'd Pet. for Citation The petition of Jacob Raker and Michael Wagner bail of Jonathan Pipher, Admr of the estate of Peter Pipher dec' respectfully represent that Letters of Admr were granted more than two years ago to the said Jonathan upon the said estate and he has not yet settled an account thereof - They therefore pray your honor to grant a citation against the said Jonathan, commanding him to settle his account with the Register thirty days before the next court or appear on the first day of next term and show cause why an attachment should not be issued against him. --- Whereupon Jan. 3, 1842 Read and citation awarded. By the Court The petition of Caroline Peifer, a minor child of Peter Peifer dec' late of Northumberland County by her next present, John Peifer Respectfully represents that Jacob Wagner, her former guardian, having filed his account of said guardianship and petitioned the court for his discharge upon his paying over all monies in his hand. Grant petitioner therefore has no one legally authorized to take charge of her person and estate, she therefore prays the court to appoint Elias Peifer her guardian for that purpose. Whereupon April 17, 1846 rec'd and Elias Peifer appointed guardian. Bail in $ 100 to be approved by Judge Holker. By the Court I approve of Jacob Raker as bail April 21, 1846 G. C. Holker ___________________________________________________________________ Peter Peifer, dec' Pet. to file additional bail The petition of John Peifer, Guardian of Isaac Peifer, one of the minor children of Peter Peifer, late of Little Mahanoy Township in said county Respectfully showeth That he was duly appointed guardian of said ward and objection had been filed to sufficiency of his bail as guardian aforesaid. Wherefore your petitioner prays your honor to allow him to enter additional bail and offers for that purpose, Jeremiah Wetzel and prays the approval of your honor. Whereupon April 14, 1848, Read and Jeremiah Wetzel app (sic) ward as bail. By the Court ______________________________________________________________________ Power of Attorney John Peiffer to Conrad H. Raker left March 30, 1857 Know all men by their presents that I John Peifer of Little Mahanoy Township Northumberland County State of Pennsylvania having made constituted and appoint and by these presents do make constituted and appoint and in my place and stead put and depute Conrad H. Raker of the township county and state aforesaid my true and lawful attorney for me and in my manner and for my use to come to the office of Prothonatary and to satisfy the judgment of three hundred dollars entered June 13, 1848 in the court of common pleas of Northumberland County, April term 1848 No. 147 . I John Peifer having given Conrad H. Raker the full power to acquit or sufficient discharge the aforesaid judgment and enter full satisfaction on the Prothonatary docket for the claim for me and in my name and to do all lawful whatsoever concerning the foregoing judgment. To fully in every respect as I myself might or could do if I were personally present. The witness thereof I have hereto set my hand and seal this 30th day of March 1857. Philip Kerstetter, JP Northumberland County fs (signed in German) Johannes Peifer (seal) On the thirtieth day of March, 1857 personally appeared before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the Peace in and for the said county the within named John Peifer and acknowledged the within letter of allowing to be his act and due witness. My hand and seal on this day and year above written. Philip Kerstetter, JP ____________________________________________________________________ Release Isaac Peiffer to John Peiffer Left April 22, 1857 Know all men by these presents that I, Isaac Peiffer, son and heir of Peter Peiffer dec' hath remised release and forever quit claim and by these doth remise release and forever quit claim unto John Peiffer, my Guardian , all and all manner of actions, suits, reckonings, accounts, debts, and demands whatsoever which I the said Isaac at any time hereafter can or may have claims and demands against the said John Peiffer, his heirs, executors and administrators at any time hereafter so touching and concerning the management and disposition of any of the estate, real or personal or mixed, of the said Isaac and for and by reason of any monies, suits, or profits by him received out of the same or any payments made therewith during the minority of the said Isaac or by reason of any matter, cause, or thing whatsoever relating thereto. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 22nd April 1857. Witness Chas. J. Bumer Isaac Peifer (seal) Northumberland County On this 22nd day of April AD 1857 personally appeared before me the subscriber, a Justice of the Peace in and for the county aforesaid, Isaac Peifer above named who in and (sic) form of law acknowledged the above release to be his act and deed to the end.
