Casper Paul Hoffer, 51, died Saturday in Shamokin State General Hospital. Born in Kulpmont, Pa on Jan 5, 1921, Mr Hoffer was a son of the late Casper Hoffer and Theresa Winkler. Employed at the Boeing Aircraft Company in Washington state for 25 years as an assistant analyst. He returned to Kulpmont one year ago. Married Jun 1964 to the former Frances DeEtta Miller, who died seven years ago (1965). A veteran of WWII, served in the Army. Born Jun 1, 1905, the daughter of Joseph Sledgen and Tessie Hohlask. Married Jun 1931 in Church of Transfiguration, Shamokin, to Michael J. Kwasnoski. Mildred Llewellyn Philadelphia, Pa. age 69 of Philadelphia, former resident of Mount Carmel died Saturday in her residence following an extended illness. The former Mildred Cheskiewicz was born in Mount Carmel, daughter of the late Vincent Cheskiewicz and Victoria Labonoski. She was educated in Mt Carmel and employed in the General Cigar Factory, Mount Carmel for 30 years. She was married to William Llewellyn in 1940 in Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin, Philadelphia, and was a resident of Philadelphia since her marriage. Her husband a former resident of Weigh Scales died 18 years ago. Mrs Llewellyn is survived by nieces and nephews. Mrs Mae Madera age 67, of Newberry Apartments, and formerly of 138 North Rock Street, died Saturday evening in Hollie Peace Nursing Home Number 1, Sellingsgrove, following a three month illness. Born in Shamokin, Pa on May 30, 1885, the daughter of the late Joseph Zeigler and Mary Brennan. Married Sep 25, 1935, Shamokin, Pa to Daniel Madera who died in 1940. Scanlin, former pastor of Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, Shamokin, Pa., died Saturday in the Evangelical Church infirmary, Myerstown, Pa, after an illness of one year. Born in Philadelphia Aug 7, 1885. Mrs Reed was the daughter of the late Joseph S. Hallman and Ellen M. Heist. Mrs Reed's first husband Robert H. Scanlin died in 1937, and her second husband George A. Reed died in 1967. Survivors include one son, the Rev. Harold H. Scanlin, president of Evangelical Congregational School of Theology, Myerstown, Pa. Roy E. Sanders Shamokin, Pa., age 63, of 1412 State Street, was pronounced dead on arrival at Shamokin State General Hospital. Born in Shamokin, Pa on July 26, 1908, the son of the late Fred Sanders and Zelia Schoch. Mr Sanders was a school teacher in Coal Township and Shamokin Area School Districts for 30 years, retiring in 1971. He also served as manager of the Sanders Hotel for 26 years. He was married Dec 24, 1930 in St Edward's rectory by the Rev. John A. Maguire to the former Mildred Witt. He was a 1929 graduate of Coal Township High School and attended Millersville and Bloomsburg State Colleges. Marple (Sam) Summers 62, of 443 Main Street, died Sunday at 10:00 p.m. shortly after being admitted to the Shamokin State General Hospital. Mr Summers was born in Kulpmont, Pa on Dec 9, 1909 a son of the late John Summers and Lavina Bradley. he was employed as a miner for many years, by the Scott Colliery. he resided in Philia, Pa., and then moved to Pueblo, Colorado, where he retired as a machinist in 1962, and moved to Wilburton. Survivors include the widow, the former Florence (Riley) Minford, six children: Raymond Minford, of Philadelphia, Pa, Mrs John (Florence Minford) Low, of Williamstown, New Jersey, Mrs Salvadore (Marie Minford) Giannetto, of Pueblo, Colorado, Edward Minford, United States Army, Augusburg, Germany, now home on leave, and Sandralee Summers and Lavina Bradley Summers, both at home. May 8, 1979 Michael Broda age 75, of 1737 E. 34th St, Brooklyn, New York, a native of Mount Carmel, died today in Resort Health Related Facility, New York. Born in Mount Carmel on May 6, 1904, Mr Broda was the son of the late Jacob Broda and Mary Sawka. he was a retired Pharmacist. Mr Broda attended Mount Carmel schools and was graduated from Gettsyburg College. Survivors include two sisters; Mrs. (Helen Broda) Boyd, Queens, New York, and Mrs (Mary Broda) Bozza, Brooklyn, New York. Mrs Mary Chiboroski of 439 Main St, Ranshaw died at 10:00 a.m., Monday, at her residence. She had been in ill health fro the past three years and was hospitalized once during her illness. Mrs Chiboroski was born in Poland and came to the United States as a young girl. She resided in Ranshaw for about 70 years. She was a housewife. She was married in St. Stanistiaus Church, Shamokin on Jun 20, 1910 to Albert Chiboroski, who preceded her in death on Oct 26, 1955. Survivors include the mother, husband, one son; David Lutfy at home; one sister, Evelyn Hajjar Florida, and one brother Albert Hajjar, New Jersey May 8, 1979 John McGill age 47, of 1217 Heatherton Drive Naperville, Illinois, a former resident of Mount Carmel, died Saturday at 2p.m. in Loyola Hospital. Born in Mount Carmel, on Nov 11, 1931, he was the son of the late John McGill and Mary Muldowney. Mr McGill attended our Lady's grade school, and was a 1949 graduate of Mount Carmel Catholic High School. he was employed by Sears Roebuck and Company, Chicago, Ill. he was married April 15, 1957 to Connie Realle in St. Peter's Church, New Jersey. Survivors include the widow, two sons, Kevin and Paul McGill, both at home, and a brother; Robert McGill, South Plainfield, New Jersey. Marie C. Summers 443 Main St, Wilburton Number 2. died Monday at 1:15 p.m. in Ashland State General Hospital, where she was a patient since April 12. Born in Philadelphia, Nov 16, 1909, she was a daughter of the late James Wingate and Mary Finch. She was a resident of Philadelphia and moved to Wilburton in 1972. Mrs Summers was married to John J. Summers, who preceded her in death Jun 19, 1975. Survivors include six children, John Summers, Hatboro; Mrs. George (Roberta Summers) McCabe, Wilburton No 2; Frederick Summers, Philadelphia; Marple Summers, Crowly, Texas; Mrs. John (Anna Mae Summers) Sullivan, Beaufort South Carolina; one foster son, Thomas Quill, Philadelphia, two brothers; James Wingate, Philadelphia and one sister, Mrs (Nellie Wingate) Scholtz, Philadelphia. Jun 20, 1975 Joseph F. Gronski age 73, of 309 Main Street, Granshaw, died Thursday at 6:05 p.m. in Shamokin State General Hospital where he was a patient since last Friday. Born in Excelisior on February 18, 1902, mr gronski was a son of the late Joseph and Michalina Gronski. He moved ot Poland with his parents as a child and was educated in Polish schools. He returned to Shamokin in 1925. He wa married to the former Mary Walczak Robert Mangle Shamokin. Sergeant First Class E7, Robert W. Mangle, 38 of 1529 W. Nelson St, Shamokin, died Thursday at 7:40 p.m. in William Beaumont Veterans Administration Hospital, El Paso, Texas where he was a patient three weeks. Born in Shamokin on Dec 9, 1936, the deceased was a son of Nora Venn and Walter Robert Mangle of Shamokin. Walter Mangle died Jun 14, 1970. Robert Mangle retired from active military service on Mar 11, 1975. He was married on August 9, 1963. He was a 1954 graduate of Coal Township High School. He entered the United States Army in 1957. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict and Vietnam. He also served in Japan, Indaintown Gap Military Reservation and Germany. He was last stationed at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas. Survivors include the widow, Katie, El Paso, Texas, the mother; Mrs Nora Mangle, Shamokin, a sister Mrs (Jean Mangle) Thomas Olcese, Shamokin, and a brother Daniel L. Mangle, Warminister, Pa. Mr Summers was the son of the late John Summers and Lavina Bradley. A former resident of Kulpmont, he lived in Philadelphia for 25 years before moving to Wilburton number 2, five years ago. He workd as a coal miner for Locust Gap Colliery until his retirement. He served with the U.S. Army in Europe in World War II. Survivors include his wife, the former Marie C.
