May 9, George Watters, Trevorton, 1 widow, 3 children, died from injuries- hurt at breaker. May 10, William Burk, Big Lick, 1 widow, 3 children, died from his injuries-hurt in mine. May 10, James Dowley, Shamokin, died crushed by wagons in the mines. May 25, John Wild, Daniel Webster, 1 widow, 4 children, died from injuries by explosion of gas. May 25, Maurice Downey, Hickory Swamp, died from injuries by fall of coal. June 6, Joseph Murphy, Trevorton, 1 widow, 2 children, killed by fall of gangway timber. June 25, Robert Parker, Northumberland, 1 widow, 4 children, killed by fall of coal in the mines. July 2, William Griffiths, Trevorton, 1 widow, 4 children, killed by fall of coal in the mines. August 30, Phiilp Carr (engineer), Franklin, killed by fall of rocks in the mines. August 30, John Reed, Locust Gap, found dead in the mines. September 6, James Hill, Luke Fidler, 1 widow, 2 children, died from injuries - fall of rocks. October 3, Andrew Jetker, Henry Clay, 1 widow, 4 children, suffocated by gas from a dirt bank. October 6, John Devitt, Enterprise, died from injuries from fall of coal. October 6, M. Ryan, Brady, killed - crushed by wagons.
