While pushing a truck of the motor, the truck became derailed and he was caught between truck and motor. 11-Feb Anglone, Dominick- Italian, Miner, 30, M, Pennsylvania. Killed by fall of coal. He was trying to loosen some plank in an old breast and discharged a prop and a fall of top coal came on him. 9-Jul Baluta, Dominick- Polish, Driver, 30, S, Pennsylvania. Killed by a kick from a mule on gangway. 30-Jul Beacham, Ray- American, Miner, 36, M, Cameron. Killed by fall of coal while robbing pillars. 28-Jan Berger, Allen- American, Miner, 24, M, North Franklin. Killed by rush of coal and slate at battery. 26-Jun Blowitz, John- German, Night Watchman, 54, M, Henry Clay. He bumped his head against a water pipe in the breaker. He died September 10. 9-Feb Bridy, Condy- Austrian, Miner, 30, M, Richards. Killed by falling down a breast manway. 14-Apr Brozuskie, Anthony- Polish, Miner, 24, M, Cameron. Leg almost cut off by fall of slate while robbing pillars. Died April 15 in State Hospital. 25-May Budcofskie, John- Polish, Miner, 40, M, North Franklin. Killed by an explosion of powder caused by a spark from his lamp. 3-Sep Cominskie, Felix- Polish, Miner, 40, M, Hickory Ridge. Leg fractured by fall of slate at face of work. Died September 4th in State Hospital. 23-Feb Coshinskie, Stani- Polish, Miner, 47, M, Henry Clay. Killed by falling down manway. 26-Nov Drumbroskie, Anthony- Polish, Miner, 29, S, Henry Clay. Fatally injured by fall of slate while robbing pillars. 7-Dec Flasolti, Bartol- Tyrolean, Miner, 26, M, Pennsylvania. Killed by fall of slate at face of breast. He was dressing off a shot when it fell on him. 23-Sep Galagher, Daniel- Irish, Miner, 38, M, Locust Gap. Killed by fall of coal at face of breast. 23-Oct Globan, Stani- Polish, Miner, 33, S, Cameron. Fatally burned by powder. 1-Jul Good, Wesley- American, Driver, 24, S, Cameron. Killed by mine cars on gangway. 4-Jun Gursky, Adam- Polish, Laborer, 18, S, Enterprise. Killed by fall of slate in breast while loading a car. 14-Apr Hanks, Edward- American, Driver, 19, S, Pennsylvania. Killed by fall of slate while going down an old abandoned breast to the gangway below. 17-Feb Kensel, Stany- Polish, Miner, 45, M, Locust Gap. Killed by fall of coal in breast. He was barring down top slate and part of it fell on him. 25-Oct Klinger, Paul- Austrian, Miner, 33, S, Cameron. Leg fractured and head lacerated by fall of coal while timbering gangway. Died November 1 in State Hospital. 5-Nov Kreisher, George- American, Miner, 42, M, Cameron. Killed by fall of slate at face of work. 23-Jan Lacovish, Alex- Polish, Miner, 22, S, Richards. Killed by cars. While he was getting out of the gunboat at bottom of slope, the engineer began to hoist and Lacovish fell under. An investigation showed that a piece of slate fell on the wire and rang the bell. 23-Dec Malitzo, Tony- Italian, Laborer, 36, M, Locust Spring. Killed by falling into machinery. While starting a chute that carried rock down to a conveyor in the breaker, he fell against the side of the conveyor and was dragged between it and a prop. 30-Dec McGinn, Christopher- Irish, Miner, 57, M, Locust Gap. Killed by fall of slate at face of breast while dressing off a shot. 12-Mar Menkewitz, Joseph- Polish, Miner, 26, M, Alaska. Killed by a blast in breast. He had shortened the squib and the blast went off before he reached a place of safety. 13-Aug Millard, Lot- English, Miner, 25, M, Locust Gap. Killed by fall of slate at face of breast while trying to bar it down. 31-Aug Minich, John- German, Laborer, 25, S, Natalie. Killed by fall of coal at face of breast. They fired a shot in the face of breast. They then went down to the platform to load a car. After loading the car, they went back to the face and sat down when the coal fell. 26-Jan Moser, William- American, Driver, 22, M, Scott. Killed by cars. While coming in with an empty trip to the bottom of plane, a trip of loaded cars came down the plane and ran into him. 31-Mar Neidinger, Charles- American, Slatepicker, 16, S, Cameron. Fatally injured by machinery. Died in State Hospital the same day. 26-Nov Norbon, Anthony- Polish, Miner, 35, S, Scott. Killed by a piece of coal that glanced off the cage at bottom of shaft and struck him on the head. 27-Oct O'Donnell, John- American, Miner, 32, M, Sayre. Killed by falling down manway. 17-Dec Popo, Michael- Polish, Laborer, 20, S, Alaska. Fatally scalded by falling into a tank of boiling water. He evidently forgot about the tank, which was used for purifying water for the boiler and walked into it while returning from the supply store. 3-Jun Purcell, Patrick- American, Miner, 32, S, Richards. Killed by explosion of gas. 15-Nov Rodgers, John Jr.- American, Miner, 30, M, North Franklin. Killed by fall of top coal while robbing pillars. 21-Oct Sheetz, Oliver- American, Machinist, 45, M, Bear Valley. Killed by belt wheel in engine room of blacksmith shop while looking after the machinery around the colliery. 20-Oct Shicton, Frank- Italian, Doorboy, 17, S, Alaska. Killed by cars on gangway. He neglected to open the door until the loaded trip was near, and then made an effort to open it and was caught by the cars. 11-Jan Simonisky, Stany- Polish, Miner, 30, M, Alaska. Fatally injured by cars. While riding on the front of a trip of loaded cars, the mule began to kick and he jumped off on the high side of the gangway and was caught between car and timber. Died January 13. 29-Jun Sosnoski, John- Polish, Miner, 27, S, Colbert. Killed by fall of slate at face of breast. 3-Dec Soster, Sol- Polish, Miner, 30, M, Bear Valley. Killed by fall of coal at face of breast. 12-Oct Stalarskie, Alex- Polish, Oiler, 17, S, Corbin. Leg squeezed between mine cars at bottom of coal place. Died Oct 14 in State Hospital. 18-Aug Sweitz, James- Polish, Miner, 37, M, Richards. Fatally burned by explosion of gas at face of breast. He struck a match to light a shot, and the gas exploded. 31-Aug Thompson, William- English, Miner, 45, M, Natalie. Killed by fall of coal at face of breast. They fired a shot in the face of breast. They then went down to the platform to load a car. After loading the car, they went back to the face and sat down when the coal fell. 22-Apr Warencvitch, Frank- Polish, Laborer, 19, S, Scott. Killed by fall of top coal in a breast. He was working with his father. 1-May Washefski, Anthony- Polish, Miner, 45, M, Pennsylvania. Killed by fall of slate while dressing off a shot in breast. 3-Nov Waugh, Jospeh- American, Driver, 19, S, Hickory Swamp. Killed by fall of slate five hundred feet back from face of gangway. 11-Jan Williams, Thomas- Welsh, Miner, 57, M, Locust Gap. Killed by fall of slate at face of breast. He was barring coal off the rib, which loosened the slate. 27-Jan Williard, Harry- American, Miner, 39, M, Cameron. Killed by premature blast. 2-Jun Yackobfski, Stany- Polish, Miner, 23, S, Richards. Fatally burned by an explosion of gas. He went up his breast with a naked light on his head and encountered a small body of gas which exploded. 20-Apr Yuetas, Clement- Polish, Miner, 25, S, Big Mountain. He was overcome by powder smoke in the downcast and fell down the manway. 16-Dec Zacula, Frank- Polish, Laborer, 25, S, Natalie. Killed by fall of slate. 12-May Zangavish, Charles- Italian, Driver, 22, S, Colbert. Squeezed between mine cars and timber on high side of gangway.
