Dentler: http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm [Note: much of will faint and difficult to read] [Page 471] In the name of God, Amen, I Jacob Dentler of Point Township, Northumberland County and Sate of Pennsylvania being in good health of body and of sound and disposing(?) mind and memory praised be God for the same and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs whilst I have strength and capacity so to do make and publish this my last will and testament hereby revoking and making (null?) all wills by me at any time heretofore maid [sic] and first and principally commit my soul into the hands of my Creator who have it and my body to the earth to be interred in the burying ground at the discretion of my Executor and as to which worldly estate wherewith it hath [pleased?] God to entrust me I dispose of the same as follows Viz (?). [cant read word] It is my will and I do order that all my debts of which there are but few and none of any amount be duely [sic] paid as soon after my decease as Conveniently may (?). Item. It is my will and I do order that (?) [page 472] Should my wife Elizabeth Dentler late Elisabeth Guist outlive or survive me that my Executor as soon after my decease as(?) circumstances will permit (?) pay her the sum of two thousand dollars being the [same?] sum which of contracted to pay her at the time we were married as her full [ dower or dowry?] thirds as [as by informed no] manage settlement [ having?] date the eighth day of February one thousand eight hundred and fifteen will move fully and at [large?] appear [Here?} Item. It is my will and I do order that the plantation and tract of land with the appurtenances which I now reside situate in Point Township in the County and Commonwealth aforesaid and bounded by lands of the [Heirs?] of General William Wilson [? Cannot make out word] and Henry Watts and Heirs being the same which I purchased from Galbraith Paterson Esqr. Deceased as well as part of a tract of land which I have [hence?] purchased and which was sold as [the?] [late?] Captain William Gray [based on?] divided between my sons Peter and William agreeable to the line I have now made between them. The part adjoining John and Henry Watts with the dwelling house distillery and other buildings where my son William now resides together with the tract of land I purchased from the estate of Captain William Gray [?] I give and bequeath unto my son William, his heirs and assigns forever. Item. I give and bequeath unto my son Peter Dentler the part adjoining the heirs of William [Wilson?] [?] together with the [Johnsmiths ?] tract and the house on which I now reside with the household furniture excepting its clock and all other buildings on said tract to his heirs and assigns forever [I?] further order that my son Peter Dentler if he should think [whether?] to sell must not convey his property away without the consent of my son Willam and Peters [?] wife and [?] I further order that my son Peter Dentler shall give my son William the privilege of [going through . . .?] the lower bottom where the road now is and for the said Peter Dentler [?] let the said William Dentler have the use of half of the fruit in the orchard and also the use of [?] [river?] [property?] [cannot read it!] only. Peter and William Dentler at the eight thousand four hundred [?]dollars is the no and dollars of which is to be deducted from the above sum on account of the two thousand dollars [?] my sons John, Jacob & Solomon the remaining four thousand dollars they [?] are to pay in the [???] following payments one year after my decease each of them will pay pay two hundred dollars a year [??......] first year [?] hundred dollars and [??] hereinafter each of ?? and the ? year ?? Solomon and Peter Dentler each the year ?? two hudred dollars to my son William Dentler and Elizabeth McAnally each the fourth year one hundred dollars to Barbara Gottshall my daughter intermarried with John [?] Gottshall and Catherine Gottshall intermarried with Michael Gottshall each one the fifth years of my daughter Matty Geist intermarried with Adam Geist two hundred dollars and the remaining two thousand two hundred dollars they are to pay equally among the other children making themselves shares with them in five annual payments commencing with my son John as aforementioned. Item. [?] I make this my last will and testament [?] to my son John Dentler two thousand dollars to my son Peter Dentler [?] to pay any interest or principal until he pays for his place or when his [bonds?] become due. To make my son Solomon Dentler equal to my other sons my executers will pay him one thousand dollars to commence on the first of April [1826 or 1824?] as long as he lives [another?] on or after his death the principal is to be divided among his children. It is my will and I do order that as soon after my decease as circumstances will permit that my executors convert into cash all my personal property to wit all my ;plantation where my son Solomon resides, Bonds, notes, Book accounts to Bridge stock, turnpike stock grain whiskey [H??] wagons[?] except what is heretofore bequeathed and after my wife's dower if she should survive me and the foregoing bequests are paid that the balance together with what cash I may have on hand at the time of my decease shall be applied as follows: To my daughter Elizabeth Barbara, Catherine and Matty each one thousand dollars the remainder to be divided equally among my other [sic] all my children. Item. I give and bequeath to my grand daughter Catharine McAnnaly and her heirs the sum of fifty dollars and to my grand daughter Catharine [?] five dollars which said bequest shall be paid as soon after my decease as [?]. It is also my will and I so order that my son William Dentler shall give my son Peter Dentler the timber off of four acres of land on my bottom land below the little field as [??] Item. It is also my will and I do order that as soon after my decease as conveniently [?] [may?[ be my executors make a [?loan?] in sufficient to my son in [?] Terrence McAnnaly for the plantation and tract of land on which he now resides if it should not be [?] before my death and I do give and bequeath the said tract {?] to the said Terrence McAnally [?]. Item. It is my will that if my wife should survive me that she should live with my son [Solomon and?] William Dentler provided they can agree. Item. It is my will and I do order that whatever Notes or Bonds I may hold on [ ] of my sons or [....?] at the time of my decease be paid as other debts due the estate [?] have been taken in [?. . .] not heretofore mentioned in the [??] . . . ? . . and appoint my sons Jacob Dentler William Dentler and [? Halson?] to be my executors of this my will hereby revoking all other wills [?] bequests, [?] heretofore made and declare this [?] other to be by last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this sixth day of December one thousand eight and twenty one. Jacob Dentler [?] shall [?] [?] and declares by the said testament [?as] his last will and testament in the presence of us who in his presence and at his request have subscribed as witnesses and the words [?] before signing John P. McPherson, Thomas Pardee of Northumberland County . Be it recorded that on the 4th day of June 1824 before me Eli Diemer Register for said County personally appeared Thomas Pardee one of the subscribing witnesses to the [earth] on will and being duly sworn according to the law [?] depose and say that they were personally present and did see Jacob Dentler the testator sign seal publish and declare the same to be his last will and testament that at the time of so doing he the testator was of sound mind and disposing memory as deponent believes that they writings were the same in the presence and at the request of the testator and in the presence of each other and that the names Thomas Pardee and John P. The final accounting is signed by William and Jacob Dentler on April 30, 1824. Some of the entries are as on the following pages: The conditions of this present sale held at the house of Jacob Dentler late of Point Township Deceased the 30th day of July 1824, are as follows, To Wit 1. The highest bidder shall be the purchaser 2. Any person buying to the amount of three dollars and upwards shall be entitled to six months credit (Except those that purchase grain by the bushel they shall have nine months credit) by giving a note with approved security before the goods are removed. 3. All purchasers taken collectively, which does not amount to three dollars must be paid Cash, before the removal of goods. 4. Any person or persons who may refuse to comply with the above conditions shall return all articles bought before the closing of this present and make good all damages that may arrive by a second sale.
