[typed copy] LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF ELIAS B. ERDMAN, DEC’D. I, ELIAS B. ERDMAN, of the Borough of Shamokin, county of Northumberland and state of Pennsylvania, being of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, do make, publish and declare the following to be my last will and testament, hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time heretofore made. AND FIRST: I order and direct that my body shall be decently interred, and that my funeral be conducted in a manner corresponding with my estate and situation in life. AND AS TO SUCH WORLDLY ESTATE wherewith it has pleased God to entrust me with, I dispose of the same as follows, to wit: ITEM: I order and direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses shall be fully paid and satisfied, by my Executors hereinafter named, or the survivor of them, so soon as the same can conveniently be done after my decease. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife, EMMA JANE ERDMAN, all my household furniture, goods and utensils of every description, just as the same may be owned and possessed by me at the time of my decease, and to her heirs and assigns forever. I having made other provisions in my lifetime for the proper support, comforts and maintenance of my said wife, besides this bequest. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto the Lutheran Congregation and unto the Reformed Congregation of Salems’ Church at Rough and Ready, county of Schuylkill and state of Pennsylvania, each the sum of one hundred ($100.00) dollars, to be used to the best advantage by the management of each of said congregations, as their best judgment will indicate. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my daughter, MINNIE JEMIMA SNYDER, now the wife of GEORGE C. SNYDER, and to my daughter, PHRONIE K. REINER, now the wife of WILLIAM H. REINER, and to my daughter, CLARA M. ERDMAN, each the sum of fifteen hundred ($1500.00) dollars in cash, or the equivalent thereto, and to their and each of their heirs and assigns forever. ITEM: All the rest, residue and remainder of my estate, real , personal, and mixed property, of whatsoever kind and nature, and wheresoever the same may be at the time of my decease, and not herein before given and disposed of, I give, devise and bequeath unto my said daughters, MINNIE JEMIMA SNYDER, PHRONIE K. REINER and CLARA M. ERDMAN, and to my daughter, POLLY MINERVA WIEST, wife of GEORGE D. WIEST, to be equally divided between them, share and share alike, and to their and each of their heirs and assigns forever. The reason that I did not give and bequeath to my said daughter, POLLLY MINERVA WIEST, the sum of fifteen hundred ($1500.00) dollars, like I gave to the rest of my children above named, is, because I advanced to her in my lifetime, a sum equal to said amount, and therefore gave to each of my other children above named, first the sum of fifteen hundred ($1500.00) dollars, in order to equalize it, so that my children will all fare alike. AND LASTLY, I constitute and appoint my son-in-laws, the said WILLIAM H. REINER and GEORGE C. SNYDER, or the survivor of them, to be the Executors of this my last will and testament. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I, ELIAS B. ERDMAN, the testator, have to this my will, typewritten on one sheet of plain paper, set my hand and seal, this eighteenth [18th] day of April, in the year of our Lord, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-three (1923). ELIAS B. ERDMAN (seal) Signed, sealed, published and declared by the above named ELIAS B. ERDMAN, as and for his last will and testament, in the presence of us, who have hereunto subscribed our names, at his request, as witnesses thereto, in the presence of the said testator , and of each other.
