[hand written] Book 7, Pages 306 & 307. Dated May 31, 1882. Northumberland County Court House, Sunbury, Pa. George Erdman Dec'd Will I, GEORGE ERDMAN, of the Township of Shamokin County of Northumberland and the state of Pennsylvania, Yeoman, Being of sound mind memory and understanding do make and publish this my last Will and testament hereby revoking and making void all former Wills by me at any time heretofore made. As to such estate as it has pleased God to intrust me with I dispose of the same as follows. viz: First My will is that all my just debts and funeral expenses shall by my executors hereafter named be paid out of my estate as soon after my decease as shall by them be found convenient. Second. I give devise and bequeath to my beloved wife MARY ERDMAN out of my personal property the sum of three hundred dollars which said sum of three hundred dollars she can take as she claims, either in money or goods or part money and part goods. I also give devise and bequeath to my said beloved wife Mary Erdman in lieu of her dower if she should so elect the Brick dwelling or mansion house in which we now reside and the farm or plantation upon which the same is located, Containing Twenty two acres or there abouts situate in the township aforesaid, and also four acres of timber land of off the south-western corner and from the south side of the Township road of my other farm situated in said township to have and to hold the said messuages and appendenums for and during her natural life, and at the death of my said beloved wife all the property hereby devised and bequeathed to her as aforesaid, I order and direct shall be converted into money as soon as the same can conveniently be done after her decease by my executors herein after named or the survivor of them in the same manner and the proceeds thereof divided equally among my children, share and share alike the same as herein after provided as to the rest vendue and remainder of my said estate. Third. All the rest vendue and remainder of my estate real, personal and mixed, whatever and where ever situated. I order and direct to be converted into money as soon as the same can conveniently be done after my decease, And I do hereby authorize and empower my said executors herein after named and the survivor of them to sell and dispose of all of my real estate either by public or private sale or sales for the best price or prices that can be gotten for the same and by proper deed or deeds conveyances or assurances in the law to be duly executed, acknowledged and perfected to grant, convey and assure the same to the purchaser or purchasers thereof in fee simple. And when the whole of my said residuary estate shall be converted into money as desired, then I will and direct that my said executors herein after named shall put and place the sum of Twelve hundred dollars thereof out at interest on good real estate security and pay over the interest or dividends to my said beloved wife Mary Erdman during all the term of her natural life, which sum together with the proceeds of the said real estate herein devised and bequeathed to her for life, and the balance of the proceeds of my said residuary estate I give devise and bequeath to be equally divided. Share and share alike between my beloved children: WILLIAM K., JOHN K., DANIEL, FRANKLIN, GEORG, ALBERT, CAROLINE intermarried with Joseph A. KASEMAN, ELIZABETH intermarried with David STARTZEL, and CATHARINE intermarried with Bryson REPPLEY their heirs and assigns forever, but in case either any of my said children should die without issue before he she or they shall receive their share or shares I order and direct that the same [p307] shall be divided equally share and share alike to and amongst the balance of my said children their heirs and assigns forever. And it is my will and desire that the proceeds of my said estate shall from time to time be paid over and delivered by my said executors as soon as the same can conveniently be done after the same any part thereof is received by them to my said beloved children above named. And lastly. I hereby constitute and appoint my sons WILLIAM K. ERDMAN and DANIEL ERDMAN to be the Executors of this my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I, GEORGE ERDMAN, the testator to this my will written on one sheet of paper set my hand and seal this Thirty first day of May A.D. one thousand eight hundred and eighty two. Bucher, Register for the Probate of Wills and granting of Letters of administration in and for said County personally appeared GEORGE J. HARTLEIN and JONATHAN L. VASTINE two of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing instrument of writing purporting to the last will and testament of GEORGE ERDMAN late of the township of Shamokin, County and state aforesaid deceased, who being duly sworn according to law did declare and say that they were personally present at the execution of the same and say and heard the testator therein named, sign, seal, publish, pronounce and declare the same as and for his last will and testament, and that at the time of so doing he was of sound disposing mind, memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge and belief. D. 1882 before me was proved, approved, and insinuated the last Will and Testament of GEORGE ERDMAN, late of Shamokin Township North’d County, Pa. deceased, who died on the 5th day of June A.D. 1882, and that Letters Testamentary with a Copy of the Will annexed were granted unto WILLIAM K.
