We encourage links to the state and county table of contents. ____________________________________________________________ The Last Will and Testament of George Hornberger -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My will in the name of God, this is to be my last will, my wife Catharine shall have the seal as long as she retains my name, together with the dwelling house and barn and the garden and meadow and forty or forty five acres of farm land for her use, as long as she keeps my name, she shall have two beds, one stove in the house, also one horse, her own choice in the stable, one cow & one heifer she shall have. She shall have one hog, the choice; she shall have the house- clock and kitchen furniture as much as she wants. And my daughter Abalona must have a bed from her, and Matilda must have a bed, and my son George Washington and my son Charles shall have the seal which is in the posesion of the old woman and mother as long as she retains my name; and the remaining land shall be sold and personal property on public vendue, and my debts paid, and my son John shall have fifty six cent after my death, from the property sold, and my daughter Catharine shall also have fifty six cents, and my daughter Maria shall have fifty six cents, and also my daughter Sara and daughter Hetty shall each have fifty six cents. And my daughter Elisabeth shall have fifty six cents, and my daughter Lydia shall have fifty six cents, and my daughter Leha shall also have fifty six cents; and the remaining part shall fall to the four youngest children in equal shares. And my wife Catherine must give up the seal to my two youngest boys, when the youngest son came to age, and these two youngest sons must maintain the widow as long as she calls herself after my name. And treat her as well as need to be; and if she gives up my hame, then my land shall be leased out, until the youngest child shall come to age, and none of the four youngest children shall be the first to buy her out, she is off of all, unless they are willing otherwise. And after my death, George Long and Thomas Henninger shall be my Executors to settle my estate, and this is my last will & testament which I subscribe with my hand and seal in presence of witnesses. **** January 4, 1841 * * Peter Carl George Hornberger * seal * John Durr * * **** -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Northumberland County, Pa. Be it remembered that on the 22nd day February 1841 before me Edward Oyster, Deputy Register, in and for said County personally appeared Peter Carl & John Derr the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing will, and being duly sworn according to law did depose and say that they were personally present and did see George Hornberger the testator, sign seal publish and declare the same as for his last will and testament, that at the time of so doing he was of sound mind and disposing memory as desonants do believe, that they witnessed the same in the presence and at the request of the testator and in the presence of each other, that the names Peter Carl & Johnn Derr subscribed thereto as witnesses are of dessonants own hand writing and further say so. Be it remembered that on the 22nd day of February 1841 was proved and approved the last will & testament of George Hornberger, late of Coal Township dec'd of which the foregoing is a true copy and that Letters Testamentary with the will annexed were granted to George Long & Thomas Henninger, Executors in the said will named.
