Will of Mary Hoey Will Book 5, p. 228 [transcriber's note: Mary Hoey/Huey was born Mary Waldron on 8/29/1792 and married Augustus Huey b. 10/8/1790, d. 2/3/1858. Mary's last name appears as "Hoey" on her will; Augustus' administration papers show the last name as "Huey".] In the name of God, amen. I, Mary Hoey of Shamokin Township in the county of Northumberland, being admonished by old age and infirmity that the days of my earthly pilgrimmage are drawing to a close, but being of sound mind and disposing memory and understanding, do make and publish this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all other wills by me heretofore made, and declare this and no other to be my Last will and testament. First and principally, I commend my spirit into the hands of God who gave it and my body to the Earth to be buried in a decent and Christain like manner at the discretion of my Executor. As to such worldly Estate as God hath been pleased to bless me with, I dispose of the same in the following manner. I direct all my just debts and funeral expenses to be paid by my Executor as soon after my decease as the same can conveniently be done I give and bequeath to my daughter Rebecca married to Allen Wilkinson of Pottsville the sum of five dollars and that shall be her whole share of my Estate. After payment of my just debts, funeral Expense, the Expense of settling my estate and the above name legacy, I give order and direct all the balance of my estate to be equally divided among my hereinafter named children. To my daughter Mary married to Robert Campbell, to my son John Hoey, to my daughter Peggy married to David Shive, to my daughter Susan married to Solomon Martin, to my deceased daughter Hannah married to Gideon Kline, her share to be divided equally among her two sons. I forgive my son John Hoey all the dower that may stand open and in my farm against him at my death for which my son John Hoey is to keep me and take care of me until my death. I give and bequeath to Alonsa Barnhart son of my daughter Susan my large new bible. I also order and direct my executor to erect a tomb stone to my grave and to be paid for out of my estate. I nominate constitute and appoint David Reeser and John Hoey to be the executors of this my last will and testament, hereby declaring this and no other to be my will. In witness whereof I, Mary Hoey, the testator, have to this my will written on this sheet of paper set my hand and seal 10th day of October AD, 1863. Mary Hoey X her mark Signed, sealed and published and declared by the above named Mary Hoey as and for her last will and testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names at her request as witness thereto in the presence of the said testator and each of the other.
