The original will of Joseph McCormick is located at Sunbury, Northumberland County, PA at the courthouse. It is in Will Book 6, p. 344 and was filed on May 6, 1876: "In the name of God Amen I, Joseph McCormick, of Delaware Township in the County of Northumberland and State of Pennsylvania, being of sound mind, and memory, and considering the uncertainty of this frail and transitory life, do therefore make, ordain, publish and declare, this to be my last Will and Testament. That is to say, "First, after all my lawful debts are paid and discharged the residue of my estate, real and personal, I give and bequeath as follows. "To my daughter Mary. I bequeath our large family Bible. The Sewing Machine. our Bedroom set. and our cou___. She to have possession of the same immediately after my decease. "The balance of my property both real and personal, I bequeath to my beloved Wife Margaret B. during the time of her natural life, and after to death to be divided equally among my heirs, share and share alike. "In case of my daughter Elizabeth however I bequeath her share (which it is my desire should remain in a farm) for her use and benefit during her natural life, after her decease to be equally divided among her children by her present husband, William Hunter. "It is also my desire that my other children should as far as possible (retain?) their interests in the farm and real estate now possessed by me. "Likewise, I make, constitute, and appoint three sons, William S. McCormick, Cyrus McCormick and Joseph McCormick (and my son-in-law McCall Piatt) to be executors of this my last Will and Testament. hereby revoking all former wills made by me, "In Witness thereof, I have herewith subscribed my name and affixed my seal, this Fourteenth day of October, in the year of our Lord (A.D.?) One Thousand Eight Hundred and Seventy Five." H. McCormick appeared before Lemuel Shipman, Register for the Probate of Wills swearing that Joseph McCormick died on the second day of April 1876 at 6a.m. On the same day, M. A. Nicely and J. F. Hull appeared before the same swearing they were personal witnesses to the will of Joseph McCormick of the Township of Delaware.
