Will of Peter McDonnell In the name of God Amen, I Peter McDonnell of Locust Gap County of Northumberland and State of Pennsylvania, being sick and weak in body but of sound mind, memory and understanding (provided by God for it) considering the certainty of death and the incertainty of time thereof and to the end I may be the better prepared to leave this world whenever it shall please God to call me hence, do therefore make and declare this my last Will & Testament in manner following that is to say first and principally I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God my creator, I give and bequeath to my dearly beloved wife all my real and personal property (viz Hannah McDonnell) for and during her file and from and after her death I give and devise the same to my sons and daughters viz John, Thomas, Elizabeth Jane now the wife of Thomas Pepper, George, Andrew, Mary and Hannah to be divided among them share and share alike. In case any of the above named children should die before their mother then their heirs inherit their share, said property is situated in Locust Gap, County and State aforesaid and consist of a tavern stand and one lot and a half including all furniture and fixtures therein - And I nominate and appoint my said wife Hannah McDonnell executrix of this my last will - In Witness Whereof I, the said testator, Peter McDonnell have to this my last Will and Testament set my had and seal the fifteenth day of May A.D. 1870. Be it remembered that on the Fifth day of October A.D. 1870 before me Lenel Shipman Register for the Probate of Wills and granting of Letters os Administration in and for said County, personally appeared Jno McEliece and Francis McCarty two of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing instrument of writing purporting to be the last Will & Testament of Peter McDonnell late of the Township of Mt. Carmel County and State aforesaid, deceased, who being duly sworn according to law did declare and say that the were personally present at the execution of the same and saw and heard the testator therein named sign, seal, publish pronounce and declare the same as and for his last Will and Testament, and that at the time of so doing he was of sound mind, memory and understanding to the best of their Knowledge and belief.
