We encourage links to the state and county table of contents. ____________________________________________________________ Northumberland County Willbook Vol 3(1827-1845), p 152 1 May 1833/ 12 February 1834 Peter Peifers deceaseds Will In the name of God Amen, I Peter Peifer of Lower Mahanoy Township in the county of Northumberland and State of Pennsylvania being weak in body but of perfect mind and memory praised be the Lord calling unto mind the Mortality of my body and that it is appointed for men once to die I do make and ordain this my last will and testament, that is to say, I give and Recommend my soul in the hands of the almighty God that it and my body to the earth to be buried in a decent and Christian like manner at the discretion of my Executors and respecting such worldly estate and effects whereunto it has pleased God to bless me in this life, I dispose of them in manner following that is to say I give and (Recommend my Soul in the hands of the almighty God that it and my body to the earth to be buried in a decent and Christian manner) bequeath unto my dear wife Elizabeth the interest of one hundred dollars yearly and every year during her natural life, two German Books, one these a Testament and prayer Book one bed and bedstead with their sheets and three blankets, two Chests, thereof which Brought to me, one Dining table, one Iron Pott, one Copper Kittle a small one Six Knives and forks, two small Washing tubbs, all the kitchen furniture which she has locked in her chest by my life time, further it is my will that my dear wife shall have all our linen for her use, all the leather which is owned by us, after my decease, and the above, I give and bequeath to my dear wife Subject to that which is mentioned in an article of agreement made with my son Henry Peifer and further I give and bequeath unto my five sons the sum of five hundred and fifty dollars that is to John Peifer, George Peifer, Peter Peifer, Michael Peifer and Henry Peifer, and further it is my will that my son Peter Peifer is to have fifty dollars out of the five hundred and fifty dollars and then stand in share and share alike with John, George, Michael and Henry, and further I do order my executors to pay the above sum of five hundred and fifty dollars as quick as it becomes due out of my bonds which my son, Michael Peifer, owes me or as the bonds become due, share and share alike, and further, I do order my Executors to sell my Plantation which my son Henry now lives on after my widows decease, at private or public sale or any way that the[y] see fit and the money to be divided share and share alike among my ten children, that is to say John Peifer, Elizabeth, the wife of Jacob Stengel, Anne Margaret, the first wife of John George Olewine, and George Peifer, and Peter Peifer, and Anna Mary, the second wife of George Olewine, Jacob Peifer, Michael, Henry and Philip Peifer or their heirs or assigns & further it is my will that my son Peter shall have fifty dollars out of my estate after my widows decease-then to be in equal share with my other heirs and further it is my will that my son Peter shall have one Bed & Bedstead my son in law Frederick Keiffer intermarried to my daughter Catharine Received two hundred & sixty six dollars sixty seven cents which I paid to him in the year 1818 and this shall be her share in full out of my estate and my son John Peifer received fifty pounds In the month of November 1822 with lawful interest for the same which shall be deducted out of his share it is my will that after my decease I order my Executors to sell my movable property what is left on public sale and the money arising from the sale to be divided in equal share and share alike. And I do hereby nominate my two sons Michael & Henry Peifer my Executors of this my last will and testament, and I do further authorize my executors to make a lawful deed of my plantation to the purchaser or purchasers of this my last will and testament. And further I do nominate my son Michael Peifer guardian over my son Philip Peifer of his portion coming to him as soon as his portion becomes due or a part thereof he shall put the money upon interest and the interest to be paid to my son Philip yearly & every year until he becomes to be a steady man or in case of his sickness you shall supply him as you see fit. And lastly I do hereby utterly disallow, revoke,dismiss all former wills and testaments made by me declaring this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this first day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & thirty three. Signed sealed published and declared by Peter Peifer the testator as and for his last will and testament in the presence of me who at his request and in his presence and in the presence of us as we have hereunto subscribed as witnesses herto and further I do declare and say to all my heirs that is not fully satisfied with this my last will shall have nothing. Northumberland County Be it remembered on the 12th day of February in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred & thirty four personally appeared before me David Rockafellar Deputy Register for said County Daniel Hillbush Esq. and John Wert the two subscribing witnesses to the foregoing will, who being duly sworn according to Law, do depose and say they were personally present and saw and heard the testatator Peter Peifer sign, seal, publish and pronounce the foregoing instrument of writing as and for his last will and testament and that at the time of so doing he was of sound and disposing mind and memory & understanding – and that they witnessed the same in the presence and at the request of the Testator-and that the names written Daniel Hilbush and John Wirt are respectively deponents own handwriting: Daniel Hilbush, John Wirt. Sworn & subscribed the day & year aforesaid Before D. Rockafeller Register – Be it remembered that on the 12th day of February was proved & approved the last will & testament of Peter Peifer late of Lower Mahanoy township deceased (of which the foregoing is a true copy) and that Letters Testamentory in due & common form of Law were granted to Michael and Henry Peifer Executors in said testament named.
